It had always been my keen interest to find what the Bible has to say about Muhummed, who had been responsible for the bringing into being a world wide community of millions of Belivers who, on his athourity belive in
(1)the miraculous birth of Jesus
(2)that Jesus is the Messiah
(3)that he gave life to the death by God's permission, and that he healed those born blind and lepers by God's permission.
The Old Testament has many prophecies regarding the coming of Jesus, but not one single prophecy where Jesus is mentioned by name, the term 'Messiah' translated 'Christ' is not a name but a title. So how did anyone conclude that those prophecies refered to Jesus. You see, prophecies are word pictures of something that is going to happen in the future, when that thing actually comes to pass we see vividly in these proophecies the fulfilment of what had been predicted in the past. What we actually do is that we deduce, we reason and we put two and two together. If this is what they have done to justify their claim regards to the genuiness of Jesus why should we not adopt the very same system for Muhummed.
Lets consider Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 18 the English translation reads as follows:
" I WILL RAISE THEM UP A PHROPHET FROM AMONG THEIR BRETHREN, LIKE UNTO THEE, AND I WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH; AND HE SHALL SPEAK UNTO THEM ALL THAT I SHALL COMMAND HIM".
In this prophecy God is addressing Moses and saying to him that he will raise a phrophet from among their brethern (the Arabs are the brethern of the Jews) and the main empasis is that "LIKE UNTO THEE", that is he will be like Moses. And the most suitable candidate for this prophecy could only be Muhummed, since he is the only person who has the most similarities with Moses. The prophecy further proceeds "AND I WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH", it means that I will teach you a subject about which you have no knowledge and I will ask you to read or repeat after me what I utter. As we are all aware that Muhummed did not know to read and write and history tells us that Muhummed was forty years of age, he was in a cave some three miles north of the City of Mecca, it was the 27th night of the Muslim month of Ramadaan, in the cave the Archangel Gabriel commands him in his mother tongue READ or PROCLAIM or RECITE!
I wish many of you take part in this discussion and I also look forward to your views regarding the above subject.

Sounds like you've read up on this a lot more than I have. The Bible mentions the Messiah, but do Muslims consider Muhammed a Messiah, or a prophet (who came after others such as Jesus, Moses, etc.)? Do Muslims see another prophet coming forth, or is Muhammed the final one? Is it just the Jews who consider Jesus as the Messiah? I havent' done much any study of the religions, so I'm curious about what each says about similar themes.

We muslims of the sole authority of Muhummed(pbuh) believe that Jesus (A) is the Messiah and we also believe that Muhummed (pbhu) is the last and final prophet.
