I do not agree. I just think that they are just in fashion nowadays. And I can admit, ever since I've had one, things have gone smoother. For example, when I had a flat tire, I could call my husband from the phone. Or when I got pulled over by a police man and didn't have a driver's licence. I had to call a ride, or else go to jail. Luckily I had my cell phone. I think they are good in emergency situations, due to the fact that if you call 911, even if you have no service bars, you will still connect to emergency services. My cell phone is very important to me, I wouldn't want to live without it.

Nothing technical is compulsory in life. As much as I would have withdrawal symptoms if I couldn't get to a computer, as much as I want have my cell phone with me at all times. They are just conveniences. Even the phone itself and cars are conveniences. If we ever experienced one of the sci fi type of disasters, people would find a way to survive.
