When you have trouble falling asleep what do you do? If it happens often do you see your doctor about it or try different remedies yourself?

Yes, I do have Insomnia. What I do is very simple and it works. I either read until I fall asleep or I work online and make money until I fall asleep. It works.

LOL that's what I do! I stay online and read or post. Sometimes I wonder if that's causing my insomnia ;)

You are so right, my friend! That is why you are awake. It is because you can't pull yourself away from Mylot. And why is that? It must be the promise of 25 cents1 lol Are we living in 1950 or what? Atleast if the standards of living go down, we will be prepared! :)

deep breathing and stretching, also cutting off the tv, and playing either some calming music or calming environmental sounds, and then finally, for me, getting into bed with a good book and my cat. Tried the medication thing, but did not like the effect.

I have a cd player with ear buds. I have recorded some good soothing songs, enough to take me through at least 4 hours, and put the music on random, so I do not know what I am going to hear next, so I do not get the music programmed into my head, otherwise if it is in the same order, than in a while I sleep, but know what is going to happen. Also, I understand the meds thing. I have MS and take quite enough meds, thank you(lol). Best of God's world to you.

I take medications to help me fall asleep. I have bipolar and sometimes sleeping is an issue. On occassion we have to change the meds. One thing I found out was I took the medications too early. My doctor has me taking them 20 minutes before bed. I then do a puzzle until I feel sleepy.

It sounds like you and your doctor have a good working relationship. That's so helpful. I used to do word puzzles. I could try that too. Thanks for your reply.

sleeping - sleeping outside with cool air is refreshing
Oh...i have trouble falling asleep since my baby was born and until now..i go to bed late at night..i watch television so that i can feel sleepy, but i know it's not good for my health and eyes but i can't really sleep early in the evening..nope, i don't go to the doctor to have some check-up but i tried remedies like drinking warm milk, and i read a book that the best remedy is having a warm shower, warm milk to drink and not having a nap on the afternoon..

That's so true about not taking a nap. Now I have to take a short one once in a while, but never close to bedtime or past 5 pm. I hope you get some goood, restful sleep soon.

My aunt takes regular Tylenol PM. She takes two of them every night and she says they work wonders. Shes been doing it for years so I guess they work. I don't care to take anything myself so I either have some ice cream or cheese, no joke it works. Maybe it works b/c its dairy and they say milk makes you sleep too, I don't know. But I know having some cheese or ice cream works for me - which it is not often - but when insomnia does strike, that is what I use. I hope you find something that works for you. P.S. what I don't do, is to do anything to stimulating, read, watch tv, play games, surf the net, etc. as that will really keep you awake.....good-luck.

I remember now about milk making you sleepy. I used that with my youngest dd and it worked like a charm. I'd even warm it up a little for her. I may give that a try. I love skim milk, yummy.

THe only cue is to forget about the whole world once you go to your bed for sleep. When you do not have anything to worry, you will be free. Leave everything "that you cannot change" to God. You will definitely get a good sleep.

Leaving my worries at the feet of God's throne is something I try so hard to do. I suffer from anxiety so I have problems with worry. If I know I can't shut my mind off I will take an anti-anxiety med.
