Am I asking for too much?

Last April 28 was my 23rd birthday. My boyfriend who's on his out of town job went here in the city and spent the evening of my birthday here in our house with my three brothers. Since birthdays only come once in a year, it truly is something special, with this I was expecting to receive a gift from him. But don't get me wrong, I'm not materialistic. Actually, I don't mind him giving me the cheapest of the cheap, all I'm expecting for, is for him to give me something. I mean, can't he give me even a piece of card or even a flower as a birthday gift? I'm sure they don't cost that much but why is it that he hasn't given me ANYTHING??
By the way, last christmas he has given me an expensive shoulder bag and last valentines, chocolats and a set of cologne, lotion, bodywash. With this, I think it's just normal for me to expect that I'll be receiving something form him on my birthday but apparently, there's nothing.. So what could be his reason? As for me, I'm thinking that maybe he's not that interested in me as he was before..

Well as you have told that he has a job outside the city but he was there for you in the evening, if I would have been you then his presence alone was the best gift he could give you, just imagine if instead of himself being here , he would have sent a gift only then how you would have felt.
