Do you enjoy Art? Do you paint or sculpt, or just enjoy looking at Art?

I used to paint to earn some extra money for the household. But the last couple of years I can't seem to sit myself down and do it. My mom also paints, and we used to do art shows, craft fairs, etc. on the weekends. I keep looking at my art supplies, I just can't get motivated. I think after years of doing paintings of what everyone else wanted, I just got tired of it. Do you enjoy art? Are you artistic or just enjoy looking at art?

I like sculpture and mixed medias more than I like paintings. I don't really like going to galleries much, or art museums, but I do like open air art shows. There is a place in Dublin where you can walk around the block and all the fences are coverred with artwork for sale and usually the artists re right there to meet. That is fun!

I've never done any sculpting, but it has always interested me. I do enjoy going to the art museums, but I'm not much on the art galleries. Alot of the art is over priced and not to my taste.

I grew up going to the Detriot Art museum. I loved art and I was lucky enough on many vactions to go to many different ones around the country when I was growing up. It gave me a great appreciation not only for the classics but also for those who do art today. I wish I could do some of the things I see people do, paintings but also sculpt or other creative crafting. I work with paint shop pro and I have fun with making graphics but nothing like that.

I do enjoy art. I love to look at it. I am not so good at creating it - but I do try. I mostly paint. I can't draw very well.

I believe that art takes time to be appreciated. Firstly, the world is that most people don't really understand the works behind art, hence difficult to appreciate. Add that with our busy schedule or more technology proned works.
But, once we get a feel of art, we begin a whole new world of appreciation - and of course, then there are those who like to create things/ artworks.
For me, I like to create new stuff, as some people will call me a 'creator'. Though I dont paint, I'm the conceptualist behind my works - some of which uses camera (eg. in my coffee-table book www.batikinspirations.com), and the other computer tools like Adobe Illustrator (eg. the giant poster of Malaysia at www.themalaysiapage.com).

Art, both creating and admiring, has been an important part of my life since I was a small child. The act of creating or seeing others creations moved me in ways I couldn't describe very well . . . unless I was creating something, myself. I've experienced what you're going through, artist's block, for similar reasons. Have you tried using the book The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron or Make Your Creative Dreams Real by Sark? Cameron's book got me out of a creative block in 1998 and SARK's book got me out of another one in 2004.
