Too drunk to get married.

I think that is funny.
Villagers at a wedding in eastern India decided that the groom had arrived too drunk to get married and so the bride married the groom's more sober brother instead.
The groom was drunk and had reportedly misbehaved with guests when the bride's family and local villagers chased him away.
The younger brother readily agreed to take the groom's place beside the teenage bride at her family's invitation!
I rate that as one of my funniest recorded stories in history;how could one decide to get drunk in such kind of a special event?

Wow. What a story! Well, as I think of this, maybe the original groom does not want to marry the girl anyway or else he should have prepared himself better.
I have not heard anything like this. It is quite a story to know that the groom is replaced by his own brother. Good for him and the bride -- they get married by an accident and chance.
If I were the bride or even the brother, I will never allow the marriage to continue. In my culture, this would never happen at all. Marriage is done for two individuals who should be sure of their own commitment to each other. No marriage is done for the sake of the ceremony. However, this could be another culture anyway.
May the new bride and groom live in peace, after the other brother get sober!

Hahahaha, this is really a one of kind situation while getting to be married guy.I think the groom was not ready enough to be tied up to his bride forever.maybe that was the big reason why he drunk himself in order he can escape the celebration. However his brother stood in behalf of him but I think this action was not acceptable by the church law or even in sacrament of marriage.

Yeah I agree with you that the sacrament of matrimony has been brought into disrepute.
