Do you believe in ghosts or spirits and that they visit us. And have you ever heard that children are more receptive to them ? Ok my son kept telling my wife that pop pop was in his room playing with him. Mind you that my son is three years old. My wife was casually indulging him thinking that is was just one of those things that he comes up with. But then he says pop pop frank was there. Now this is where it get's weird my wife's grandfather was named Frank. And we are both very sure that we never mentioned this name to him. Do you really think that it is possible that he was playing with pop pop Frank ?

Yes, I do believe in ghost or spirits (both good and bad) and yes I have heard that children and also elderly are more receptive (or volnerable if that is the case) to them. I think it is very possible that your son is playing with Pop Pop Frank. My suggestion would be if they were playing I'm guessing Frank was a good man and would be a good spirit so not to make too big a deal of it. If you do have concern there are a number of things you can do that involve a religious belief of annoyting and praying. If you would like more information feel free to message me and I can get the information for you in the next day or two.

I can't say that I am particularly concerned I kind of figured the same thing. I am not sure really what I believe here but supposing I accept this I would imagine that he is in fact a good spirit and therefore would offer some protection from and bad ones. Hey what do I know, if this realm or world does exist, I would rather him have a friend.

Well, I'm not really back yet - got a couple days extention because of a big mess up with the interviews the client wanted included in the first chapter, basically ment throughing out 2 of the 3 and me redoing those two.. Was figuring on being back tomorrow but 'boss' emailed me last night as soon as I finish this one he has another ebook assignment for me so we'll see. I mainly responded to this one because of personal experience - afraid several years ago my son (9 at the time) had a 'bad one' spending time with us... I truely do believe - been there done that :(

Yes, I believe, and I think you and your wife should too. I have heard that children are more receptive because they are less likely to have fear and more willing to believe!! Your family is blessed don't think otherwise!!!

I do believe and yes I have a 4 boys ages 11,6,3, and 1 yr old. your son can see simply because he isnt aware that you cannot see and yes children are more receptive. my son has always seen and tells me when someone is visiting. my youngest baby talks to spirits all the time and as long as it isnt scaring him it isnt causing him any harm next time he tells you ask him to tell frank to go to the white light usually that helps but if you like me and my family welcome good spirits enjoy the visit and try to savor the moment. good luck and best wishes.

It is a running theory that children and animals are more receptive to the influence of spirits/ghosts than adults. I would think this is contributed to the fact that (well...most...hah) adults force themselves into "logical" realms of thought and are MUCH more quick to dismiss such a concept, whereas the mind of a child has not established boundaries between "fantasy" and "reality"... (...I also think that people begin to feel old when they deny themselves imaginative thought. But I digress...) It's really a hard call. Your son could have overhead you talking about Frank days ago (it's amazing what those little sponge brains decide to retain)...it could also be that he heard the name elsewhere and it's just freak coincidence that it corrolates. However...I cannot confirm or deny the existance of spirits, and that line of thought may be perfectly valid. Sometimes I see people out of the corner of my eyes. Distinct shadows - people that I have known who no longer breathe. Usually, it happens when I'm alone, and especially when I'm sad/miserable/depressed/lonely. It's only for a splitsecond, but in the snap of time, I feel their presence, even if that presence is only conjured by my own brain. Have you ever heard someone call your name, or say a phrase...but no one is there? As in, you are completely alone and no neighbors could have made that noise? That happens as well, mainly when I am troubled by some situation in my life. Different ones at different times. Perhaps it is just my mind knowing what these people would say if they were around to console/help me. Maybe it's a comfort mechanism that triggers in my head. But maybe...just maybe...it's them, stopping in to check in on their girl. Letting me know that they're alright, and that I'm alright. So...to answer your question...it is possible. I guess it all depends on how far you are willing to expand your perception of reality.

I agree that those things are a possiblity, I just thought I would get some outside opinions. You make an excellent point about their minds being sponges at this point.

Like people. Ghosts or spirits are combination of good and bad. You can take 95% of the ghosts are good and balance 5% is bad. Our children till they grow age of 5, they are being protected by our mother, father, grand mother and grand father. They live with us always. They are not visible. This fact I believe in full, because my daughter when she was only 21 days old fallen from the cot which is two and half feet height. You can image what would happen if 21 days child fall from 2.5 feet height. For my daughter nothing happened. She was just playing. Who protect her. Further existence of ghosts I experienced few times. About 45 years ago I was crossing a jungle road at night (9 PM )which was about 3 miles. I was praying God to send somebody to help me to cross the dangerous road. I was too young at that time. I was standing under a tree before entering the jungle road and praying God. Abruptly from the back side of the tree one old man came and asked me why are standing here and were you afraid to enter the jungle road. I said, YES. I will accompany you, let us cross. Without talking we crossed the road. After crossing the road, the old man vanished. Old man might be the spirit of my grand father. I do not know. When I came to my house, I told my father about the incident. My father said "nothing to worry, your grandfather also helped one or two times in crossing the jungle road. Therefore I believe in ghosts or spirits.

Myself I must say that I do not believe in ghosts and spirits. Asides from that, Frank sounds like a pretty common name. He simply could have picked up the name from elsewhere as well. Also you don't have to mention a name to the kid for it to pick it up, if you would just have dropped the name in a single line once before he could already have picked it up. As a non-believer it sounds more like a coincidence.

I have to say you are definitely in the minority here, but I appreciate your opinion. I am not sure that I believe this stuff either, but some of the for arguments are making a bit of sense.

I'm just really scientific by nature, so till the day the existence of ghosts can be scientifically proven I do not see them as a form of existence. Of course it might change if I'd ever experience any of the sort myself, but I simply have never. I would love to have a spirit come up to me and give a sign, but so far nothing of that sort has happened yet. ** Or I just don't see the signs ;).

I don't believe in ghosts or spririts or any of the such, but I am not 100% closed-minded towards it either, primarily because I refuse to be closed-minded. I am more willing to believe that he probably did hear something about "pop pop Frank" earlier and picked it up and remembered it. It is likely that he was fantasizing about playing with his grandfather than actually playing with him. The biggest thing is you don't know if somebody else has told him his grandfathers name, it wouldn't have necessarily had to have been you - especially if you have pictures of him lying around anywhere.

Him overhearing it is a slight possibility but we speak of him very seldom, But still a possibility. As to others my wife has no other family besides me. And no photo's either.

I have always believed in ghosts. Children are more receptive to them because they have not already been conditioned to not believe in them. Therefor spirits tend to manifest to them more. But that is my opinion. :)

There is no reason why not! alot of children are more receptive and family members (especially those who got to spend no or little time with the children in the family are known to "pop" in for a visit

Well yeah i think so. Though i never really saw one. but i remember that my mom told me that i used to talk to someone when i was a kid. I used to shout "lola! lola!" (grandma in Filipino) but they can't find anybody to the postition i'm pointing. They said it was a little creepy. But honestly, i can't remember seeing someone. I just don't get it, why would ghosts want to visit or they would appear on children?

That is kind of cool, though. And hey I learned how to say grandma in phillipino. I guess maybe they would want to be arround family and that children have not all been tough that ghosts don't exsist. Just guessing here, but thanks

Yes, I believe it's possible. And I do believe that young children are more receptive to these types of things. I also have had different encounters as well as my boyfriend having encounters, at the time these happened to us we lived in two different states, and didn't know one another, so it couldn't have been from any 'suggestion' or conversation that we had.

ghosts and kids - kids and ghosts
All i can say is that children can often see ghosts and other things that we can't, they are more in tune with the spirit world. There's no need to worry, it's quite normal and natural and not dangerous. Researchers do say that children are more sensitive than others to spiritual things. Perhaps that's because they are open-minded...

You may be onto somethind there, I agree that perhaps the secret lies in the fact that they have not been tought that ghosts are not real.

I do believe in spirits, but just not sure if their the spirits of your loved ones. The bible talks about familiar spirits. I do not know much about how all this works but their is spirits out their. I have experienced things like this myself while growing up. I do not know what these spirits are. I don't think that once you die and go to heaven that your spirit can come back. At least not until Jesus comes back, but nothing is impossible with God. So who knows they may be your loved ones or just spirits making you think they are your loved ones. I have often thought on these questions. I asked my dad about this one time. He know their something their, he knows their are spirit out their, but like me he can not explain what they are.

I figure that whether it is real or not, or imagined or not it is not hurting him in any manner. I think that we all had an imaginary friend as kids, but like I said in any case no harm no foul.

Yes I believe in ghost & spirits. I'm 43 and I can remember it as plan as day. I was 6 years old and just laid down in bad and I looked toward to my closet and there was a man stnding in it,that I neveer seen before. I discribed him to my mother and she showed me some pictures. And there was my closet man. It was my Grandfather that past away before I was born. He came a few times a week. When I moved in with my husband the was a ghost,We seen a shadow all in black. We moved into a bigger appartment and the shadow or whatever went with us. Then when we bought the trailer we live in now yes, it is here. We hear noise, footsteps, doors open & close, someone talking in another room, shadows, thing comes up messing or in different places. Just a few weeks ago it was about 2 am I had woke up and turned toward my husband and there was someone all in black standing over my husband. When I got up out of bed you could see it walking out of the bed room. That's only a few things that happened. What or whoever this ghost or spirit is, it's not here to scare us cause my husband or I have never been scared. I believe your son was playing with his pop pop.

Oh yes.... he could be playing with pop pop Frank. But before you get convinced it was your wife's grandfather, it would be better if you ask your son how pop pop Frank looks like. Then you can be sure whether it was him or some other Frank. By the way, I too get the creeps sometimes when my 8 month old just responds laughing at a blank space in front of me. He does not seem frightened. But the other day, even my husband said he could 'feel' somebody near, but couldn't actually see anybody. He supposes it may be a soul that loves children. Many times, one of my son's toys suddenly sings music when it is not being played with. Those times, I really get scared, but then brace myself saying 'well, they are not frightening my children', so, let them be.

I think it is possible that ghosts or spirits exist; I have certainly seen, heard, and felt things that cannot easily be explained any other way. As for your son believing that he is playing with his great-grandfather, without having any knowledge of that great-grandfather, I would say it is possible. I wonder if there is something in his room that has some connection to Pop Pop Frank, or if your wife had a very close connection with her grandfather. Either of those possibilities could explain why your son now has a connection as well. Another, less supernatural, possibility would be if your son knows someone named Frank, or has heard that name used in a different context. He may have made up an imaginary friend with that name, and it is just coincidence that your wife's grandfather had the same name. I know that as a child I had a lot of imaginary friends, and some of them had normal human sounding names.
