Every body knows about Goa,which is a small western state in
India, and now one of the most popular International Tourist
destinations in India.
But many people who happy click their cameras and mobile phones at the tomb of St.Francis Xavier does not know about
the horrible religious torture of the ethnic Hindu population by the barbaric Portuguese colonialists in the
guise of spreading Christianity by force.
It lasted from 1560 t0 1812,after the British soldiers
intervened and stopped this barbaric practice.
Lot of Hindus Temples were destroyed,Hindus were prevented
from worshipping their Gods, they were not allowed to
conduct their religious ceremonies in public, even they
were not allowed to cremate their dead according to the
Hindu customs and traditions.
Most of the Hindu population who respected their religion
spread towards coastal Karnataka,Maharastra and Kerala.
I am proud that inspite of all these barbarians, and due
to the foresight and committment shown by my ancestors,I am
worshipping the same god which my ancestors worshipped, and
I am speaking the same language which they also spoke,i.e.
Konkani,I follow the same customs and traditions.
This not an effort to re-open the old wounds, but to salute
the grit, determination shown by my ancestors and to appreciate their committment and sincerity to the Hindu
religion and to their mother land
