Thoughts on the upcoming movie "1408", based on a Stephen King story

I haven't read 1408, but I have listened to it as a "book on tape" one night while driving up to a remote part of New Hampshire. I'm not embarassed to admit that that story really freaked me out! Which is great!
However I'm not sure I like the look of the upcoming film adaptation of this story. The movie stars John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson (both actors I normally like), but it seems they have made some unnecessary changes in the story. For example the main character is now a paranormal investigator, rather then just a hotel/travel reveiewer. I have a feeling this will be one I will just catch on video.
What are you thoughts? Did you like the story? What did you think of the trailer for the movie? Will you be seeing it?

I haven't read the story so that probably helps. But I'm looking forward to the movie. When I saw the preview, it looked awesome!

I absolutely LOVE Mr. King. His books are great, but we all know they lose something when they make them into movies. Secret Garden has been the best so far. I almost wish they would just leave them alone and not make them into movies.

Well I hadn't heard of the story or the movie but went to IMDB to look it up. It looks interesting. I've enjoyed most films based off of King's work so I'm hoping I'll enjoy this one as well. I will probably wait for DVD as well on it but I think it will be on my list to rent.
