Does anyone know if rss communication is safe?

I have heard of rss feed that go directly into your computer so you don't have to open email.Is this safe?Can they do anything else to your computer?I'm sorry for sounding like a dummy but about some things I am. Thanks

I think it will be safe Because many top companies give these feeds for us. like BBC, CNN, Yahoo, GOOOGLE, MSN and many other top rank companies, it may be unsafe if you use it from unsecured resources. Have fun.
