My daughter is 6 1/2 months old and is on store brand formula. Just the plain stuff with iron (no added lipil stuff--it upset her tummy).
When she was born the hospital went crazy and the three days we were there they had her on 3 different formuals. She started out on Similac advance, then the next day was put on Isomil advance and then the next day she was on the hypo-allergenic stuff. I was so upset. They said she wasn't doing well on any of them. But I was curious how they knew when they never gave her a chance to adjust to any of them. They said she was having loose stools but when I changed her diapers she seemed perfectly normal (she is my 4th). Her pediatrician agreed with me and put her back on the regular stuff and she has done fine with it.

I actually switch around with formula--Enfamil, Similac, Bright Beginnings, etc.

We switch around brands too. It depends on where we are at when we buy it. She usually gets Parent's Choice, Target brand or K-mart brand. She has also had Kirkland (Costco) brand but they only sell it with the advanced formula, and like I said the last time we used it she got sick. When we first brought her home we also used up the rest of the Similac advanced we had. It was the ready to use stuff and didn't seem to upset her as much as the powdered stuff. But we decided once it was done that the advanced just wasn't for her.

my son had problems with formula too & the walmart parents choice soy worked best for him, i felt bad for him b/c his formula was changed atleast 10 times in his first 2 months b/c he could never keep it down, like projectile vomitting

Have you tried the formula without the dha/ara stuff in it (the non-advanced formula). Both of my last two daughters were very fussy and had loose stools until we switched them to the regular fomula with iron (without the added stuff) and they did fine on it. The on is almost 4 now and I remember telling her doctor about the switch and he said it was fine and that a lot of babies were not taking the new fomulas well (that was back in 2002).
The last time I tried the advanced stuff on our youngest (when she was 3 months old) she went right back to be super fussy and seemed to have an upset stomach. Just a thought.
