For years I have been working in daycare, so was always CPR and first aid trained. I took some time off for awhile and went back for a few months and they renewed my CPR and my class, which was good because I didn't remember too much anymore. I feel it's very important, but hopefully I will never be in that situation, its terrifying to me!

I think everyone should learn cpr, parent or not. It is a very valuable thing to have, but you need to keep up training, when your certificate runs out. I have mine, but fortunately i have never had to use it. It is great to be prepared in case of an emergency.

Well being a registered nurse I already knew CPR when I had my first child. But, I do feel that all new parents should take CPR. I also feel that ALL PEOPLE should know CPR and the Heimlich maneuver. I had to use the Heimlich on one of my own children twice when they were young. I know a gentleman who had a heart attack and only lived because a 9-year-old girl scout knew CPR!!! I think that CPR should be taught to EVERYONE! One never knows whose life they may save!

That was a good idea. I do not actually know how to give cpr but I think I could if needed. I however, would be very perticular who I did give cpr too. I am sorry to say that because of all the deseases out there even the EMTs are using a type of mouth gaurd to protect them from germs. I do not mean that we need this kind of precaution with our own kids. I do think you are a good mom because you took the time to learn to ensure the safty of your child.

I know adult, child, and infant cpr and first aid. I worked in childcare for 7 years and we had to redo it every year. It is great to have because you never know what will come up or happen. Thankfully I have never had to use it. I almost had to when a 5 year old was choking on a hot dog but he ended up coughing it up.

It is a good idea, you never know what could happen. I had gotten my cpr and first aid when my daughter was really small and then a few years back I took a personal support worker course so in order to work in the field it always has to be updated. It's good to have either way.
