Have you ever been to Niagara Falls?

Niagara Falls - this is Horseshoe Falls, on the Canadian side.

I live only 2 hours from Niagara Falls, state side, and 2 1/2 from Niagara Falls, Canada so it's often just a misconception to me that everyone has had a chance to see it first hand. I realized one day a while back when friends from NC came to visit that not everyone is this lucky! How many of you have actually visited the falls?

I've been to Niagara a few times, at least twice with my parents and once with my first husband on our honeymoon. I love it. It's beautiful and romantic. I don't even mind the tourist traps and museums. I have a particular love for the Houdini museum.

I have—It is so beautiful! I love going to the Falls. I prefer the Canadian side- More to do there. I live within 1 and ½ hours from Niagara Falls. I’m planning on going again this summer- Its time again to take my daughter- We will do the Maid on the Mist, Journey under the Falls, Butterfly Emporium, and the walk (I forget the name). You can purchase the packages for these so you don’t have to pay for each one individual. Even if you go and just visit the Falls it is beautiful. There are some pretty neat shops also- Wax figures, Ripley’s … I say if you haven’t ever gone to Niagara Falls you should plan a trip- It’s great! I usually go to the casinos also- but not with my daughter this summer.

Oh we're there regularly! I only live about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away! We usually pick a new museum or place to go each time. In the summer we always pack a picnic lunch too and enjoy it near the falls. We've been lucky enough to do both the boat ride under the falls, the caverns, and just about any place you can think of to dine there, including some the really expensive places (those were great when the US dollar was 1.5x the Canadian!!). Now that the money is basically even AND we have to have passports to go back and forth it's a pain. We haven't gone yet this year since the passport thing.

I don't live very far from the falls either for the last 3 years, my best guess is about 3 hours away on the canadian side. But i've never been there. I dont drive so i'd have to get a friend to drive there! I guess i wouldnt mind going if someone else was taking me there :) I guess when you live close to something you take it for granted. Like when i lived on the eastcoast, and i took teh ocean for granted. Now that i dont live near it, i miss the smell, and the sounds! ..

I have never been blessed to see this gorgeous display...but have wanted to see it since I was a small child ( yes the falls were created before I was born...LOL)..I hope to see it in the next 2 years..I am trying to plan a trip to include that but keep getting side tracked!!! We just discussed it the other day and it's on the life list of things to do!!!!

I live about 90 minutes away from the Falls, thats during weekend traffic. I just love going there. The Casino is my escape after a long hard day. I lose my stress and my money, but I have lots of fun. After all its one of the seven wonders of the World.

Horseshoe Falls in Niagra - Niagra falls
My family and I went to Niagra about 2 months ago and it was our first time. I really loved it, it was so beautiful. It is a natural wonder. I am from the south so it was really cold but I did not care it was worth it. I know what you mean about feeling lucky. I am from New Orleans and I would never go to the french quater or sight seeing unless I had out of town company and now that some of it is gone I wish I had appreciatted it alot more.

I have been to Niagara Falls but it was when I was much younger so I do not remember it very well. I would love to go visit it again and really get to enjoy the Falls and the scenery and everything else in the area. That is nice that you live so close and can go there whenever you want. I am sure things have changed there since I was there when I was a small child.

I have been to Niagara Falls and it is very beautiful, although I thought the Canada side was much prettier that is just my own personal opinion, but you are right you are very lucky to live so close to someplace that so many people desire to go.

I've been to the falls a couple of times but it was from the Canadian side of it. We used to live in Michigan and we'd vacation now and then in Canada. We would go over to see the falls and it was incredible. There is nothing else like it. It was an amazing sight to behold. I didn't want to leave actually.

Niagara Falls has a special place in my memory. When I was in 6th grade, our class did an exchange trip with two schools... one in a farming community called Minesing, Ontario and the other in Niagara Falls. It was my first time away from home for any length of time (a week) and it was positively thrilling. We went on the Maid of the Mist, went to Ripley's Believe it or Not, all the usual places. I went again, some years later with my family and had an equally good time. Neither time, though, was I able to take the cable car above the falls... I have a deathly fear of heights and riding in that car, suspended by 6 cables across ALL that rushing water just wasn't my idea of a good time LOL Hopefully, one of these summers, I'll take my own kids to see the falls. Just haven't got there yet! :)

I have a few times, canadian site. Once we went just two of us and another time with my in laws. I love sight seeing but not necessarily down there crossing the lake - it's really wet! but at night and only two of us, it' so romantic. I don't know if the US site is that beautiful or not

When I visited the US a few years ago, I spent a week in New York City. Halfway through the week, I decided to visit Niagra Falls as I have heard it was nice to see. It was in the middle of Febuary and it took 10 hours there and 10 hours back from NY. Even though the length of time was short (I was only there for one night), I still enjoyed myself. I'm glad I went. Its a must see.

I went to the Canadian side of Niagra falls when I was really little, but I have not been back since. My mother and step-father take a trip there every few years, to celebrate their wedding anniversary, just after Christmas.

I went there with my sister and her hubby, my father and 2 friends last April 10. We traveled 6 hrs by car from Montreal to Toronto on April 9, had stayed overnight with friend's house and traveled almost 2hrs going to the Niagara Falls the following day. The view is breathtaking! We can see that the other side of the falls is already Buffalo New York. We went to "The Journey Behind the Falls" and passed along a tunnel leading to an area where we can view the falls very near and took pictures of it. It was so cold though during that time coz there are still ice or snow. The Lady of the Mist was not yet open for public that time. Niagara Falls was definitely one of the memorable places I've seen in Canada when I went there last month. I will surely love to go back there if ever there's a chance.

I have not had the pleasure yet but I sure want to. I even lived fairly close to there as a child, in upstate NY. I will get the chance one day soon. My husband and I both have the desire to see it and take our son.
