Have you ever read S.M. Stirling? I love his books.
One of my favorite genre's is Alternate History, Time Travel novels.
I just finished the "Nantucketer" Series, and I was sorry to have it end.
Rifles and bows, gun Powder and spears, cannon and swords.
ships and canoes, lesbians and barbarians, fanatics and women raped by Jaguars. Democracy in action, Pharaohs's, cops and Kings.
What could be better?
Stirling is a great alternate history writter, his books are well thought out and fun to read. I say; get some, read some, love some!
Do you read alternate history or time travel novels? Do you have a favorite author, or book? I need a new novel to read; recommend one to me, please!
The books in the "Nantucketer" series are:
Island in the Sea of Time
Against the Tide of Years
On the Oceans of Eternity

No I have not heard of him. But I do quite like alternate history. There aren't that many on them. Though I would say I am that much an authority on "real" history to know what is real and what is not.

Since the internet became so wide spread, I don't think there is "real" anymore....

I have never read these books but have wanted to. It is just a matter of going to the library and gettting them. After reading your discussion, I am going to go get them this week. I was out of reading and this will be a great summer reading project for me. Thanks for the wonderful review of it.

Hi Villageanne,
Thank you so much for responding to my post!
I hope the library has them in, they really are a good read that keeps you interested.
Lot's of surprises as well, you just never know where the story is going to go.
I'm off to find Stirlings "A Meeting at Corvallis", it's the second book in another of his series I'm reading. Someone told me that this series is the world that Nantucket left behind. I don't know if that's true or not.
I have the books listed on PBS if you are a member, and your library doesn't have them. yaya

This sounds very interesting, i am a fan of science fiction and fantasy. I have read fantasy books like earthsea and science fiction books about time travel like the time machine and a book about the future called a brave new world.
I will go to the library and check out what stirling's books have to offer.
