Do you know how to go about starting your own business?

a few years ago I was made redundant from a job I had been with for quite a few years so I did get a little pay out so I decided to open up a craft/gift shop, so I did the right thing and did a small business course and got myself a financial advisor, but every step I made something went wrong, silly things like agents not getting back to me when I had found the shop I wanted, silly things but then my Mother got sick and I decided instead to spend quality time with her instead of opening up that business, I now know for sure the whole business thing was just not meant to be for me that all those silly little obstacles were leading me into a different direction and when I look at all the little shops similar to what I was going to open up had all gone out of business so I now take all the things that don't work out as things to stop me from making mistakes...
