Do You Ever Pay for Affiliate Programs?

Has anyone on here ever paid to join an affiliate program? I never have and I have made money here and there. I did upgrade my clixsense account, but that was because I was curious to see the other ads and I feel that it was worth it because I have already made my money back from that plus some. I usually convert it to advertising credits anyway. I have recently joined a program that is free to be an affiliate, but you have to buy 2 packages of beef jerky a month ($12.00 each month, no shipping fees), which isn't a big deal because I would spend more than that in the store on beef jerky. It's a really great opportunity and my sponsor has been fantastic to work with. Just curious if anyone else has joined a program like this?
