What are the advantages and disadvantages of both? I'm not quite sure what range that the Mac OS has. Windows is glitchy at times. Is Mac OS more stable?

the principal problem with windows os is their vulnerability to external things like virus, spyware, malware and all that kind of stuff, when you think you are secure, then appears a new virus or else and your computer will be insecure, and even then you will have to reinstall the sistem, or lose important files or things like that. And know with windows vista on the market, the situation is even worse, because you need to find windows vista ready in both software and hardware, so its very probable you will have to start buying new stuff all over again, buying a new proccesor, new video card, and all the stuff your computer needs, and find all the software again. In the forums, the experts recommend you to upgrade to vista systems if you're looking for an incredible gaming experience, if you're not that kind of user, stays with xp, or the system you have, until vista develops a little more.
About mac os, is an incredible os, i have been using it for about 9 months, it haven't give any big trouble, from time to time it became unestable, but guess what, is when you're running microsoft software (office or messenger) but is not too frequent, some other software might hang from time to time but is less frequent than microsoft applications. And your principal concern should be not being able to find software for mac that will allow you to do the same things that on a pc, but that right know is not true, in these times you can find software that will do exactly the same thing on windows and even more, and in better quality (and if you're not able to find out, you can install a program that lets you run windows, so you can have access to any software), is just knowing where to look for, and the price, that should be your second concern, but you get top quality for what you pay, is a very good investment i can say.
As an addition, i use both windows xp (on work) and mac os x TIGER (at home) and i'm very happy with mac os, altought in these times windows xp is more stable (than older versions of windows), i keep with my preference for mac os
