have you noticed that children nowadays learned so fast from their environment? they learned a lot of stuffs not the good things only but the bad things as well. though advertisement has always advised the parents to guide their children from watching tv, still they cant avoid the children to watch the movies that are not good for them. maybe parents should have time to their children to discuss the movies that they have watched so that they will be guided and warned for the undesirable things that they have seen.

hey i agree with you..
i have seen children do many things due to the influence of television..
like some children think that they can seriously fly.. .
i think parents should restrict a child's television time..
then it could prevent a lot of things from happening.

hai good morning from india ,and very nice discussion u started,up to age of 18 the boy or girl must treat as children ,because what ever they learn in this stage goes affect all over their life not for their sake for their society also it affects, now a days they start learning by seeing ,but indirectly their eyes are got strained and the nervous got disturbed and think in superior qualities, like flying and doing risky shots of channels and same times some countries with abuse material spoils the kids, even the soft drinks ,even they forget to know their level of doing things and lonely ness and lack of memory blindness and culture spoiling, and making robberies etcc.. just in their mind simply enjoy and fun, but they don't know it is harm and not appreciable things,so better we arrange ourself the things which harm to kids minds ,away from them or do some restrictions for their sake only

This is a discussion that hits close to home.
I have twins that are going to be 12 this month. I know they occassionally watch R rated movies, though they usually was G, PG, and PG-13. I know they watch a lot of TV, and today's TV can be PG-13 and approach R, and shows on cable channels are R rated.
I tend to feel that a lot of the standards are very restrictive, and that our kids go out into life without the necessary preparation. I think that beyond knowing what they are watching, we, as parents, need to discuss and answer their questions as to whether what they watched is real and to let them know how to face situations.
The problem goes beyond the types of entertainment, you can include music and music video, and goes to the fact that in society today, children start to become more independant at an earlier age. Parents are made to work more, spend more time outside of the home, and in general not able to spend the time with the children.
Most people also forget that 100 years ago, 13 was an adult, and families were started with what are now considered children. People would go to work when they were just teenagers. Most religions place the age of adulhood at 13. For some reason 18 years old has become the legal age of adulthood.
As my children are reaching the age where they are going to be thinking in more adult ways on things, I as a parent have to start to view them as adults who can make their own decisions, with proper guidance, not children who can't do it on their own.
