Favorite hotel/motel when travelling?

When you travel or have to be away from home, like on vacation or visiting relatives or whatever. Do you have a preference on which hotel/motel you stay at? We like Days Inn, Best Western & Sheraton when we can get a good room rate. We generally try to find the most reasonable rate with the cleanest rooms. We have been disappointed before, but I am really picky especially about the bathrooms being clean. Usually we try for a Days Inn, they have been very clean and accomidating when we stay there. How about you? Which ones do you like and why?

We travel by rv now. When we did go to motels/hotels, they were always five star rating only. I must tell you that all of them are not clean though. They only wash the bedspread once every six months to one year. They don't sanatize the way they are suppose to either. It'sscary all the things you can pick up there.

It depends on where we go. If we go to Atlantic City, New Jersey, we prefer The Borgata Hotel. The rooms are very clean and lovely. The beds are so comfortable. So comfortable that they have a catalog you can buy things from and they even sell their beds! The food is excellent. You earn wonderful comps so you get a lot of free food. The only I don't like is that the casino gets a bit smoke-filled.

We always try to find a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express. They seem to be the nicest. I’m very picky with rooms- It has to be clean or I’m getting a new room- No exceptions. In Pittsburgh last November we got a non-smoking room (as we always do) it smelled like a ash tray- I think it was a room that the hotel staff smoked in.. It was right by the exit. I complained- got a better room for the same price. Hotels are expensive they need to be clean and nice- We always go to a hotel with a Pool and a hot tub- Usually opt for the Jacuzzi room suites- I think if we traveled more then I would go cheaper- but we only travel 2 or 3 times a year.

you are right about the expensiveness...I always feel cheated because we are always traveling through when we stay at a hotel, and do not stay at our destination spot...so we get in late, go to sleep, get up early and hit the road. all the nice amenities do not benefit us much, heh.

We try to choose Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inn, or Super 8 motels. Of course, there's been times that we've stayed at other places too. We've had pretty good experiences with places we've stayed. My favorite all time place is the Radisson at Florence, KY. It is a round hotel close to the airport, mall, and the view of the Ohio River and Cincinnati is just beautiful! Oh, yeah, we went on a business trip to Detroit and stayed at the Omni. That place had bellhops and anything you could think of.

I guess each one will have its own faults and bonuses despite the franchise name. I stayed at a Day's Inn last year when traveling down to S. Texas and it was a horrible stay. I had 3 of my children with me. The rooms were less than mediocre, cleanliness was wanting, and the full continental breakfast consisted of : this is all that was available for all guests to share...1 pkg of 1 honey bun. 2 mealy apples. a dried up orange. 3 multipacks of mini powdered donuts. and the hotel was more expensive than any other we stayed on our trip. I have had another time that I was satisfied with days inn. I have been overall pleased with Red Roof Inns. for price, comfort, amenities, and hospitality.

We often stay at a Best Western. The price is right and it is clean. And they have hotels in many places.
