I am a Filipino and English is not my primary language. I really love to learn to speak that language in the right accent and correct pronunciation.
I don't the way my instructor speak English. It kinda boring. I won't say I am better than him, thats not my point. I have studied speaking English fluently and I can notice some mistakes.
Well, what about you? If you are going to rate your English, how many percent?

I do talk some good english.I would rate myself 75%.I can just tell you some ways to improve English.
1)Read the dictionary.
By doing so,You will learn any word's pronunciation, other words related to it,and many more.
2)Talk to your friends in english.Whether you are correct or wrong don't care about it.There are always people around you to correct.
3)Read the English Daily newspapers,English magazines and also English story books.
4)Watch English news channels like BBC,CNBC and others.
These are few ways. There are more ways you can develop your english.Good luck.

My english is pretty good..Ive been speaking it and learning it since Im born even though it is not my national language. If I had to rate my english i would probably rate it at 80% coz theres so much to the english language that no one can rate it at a 100%.

It is a great advantage for English people... it is called a birth language. Good rate!
There are some english words that I really don't know the meaning, especially when reading books, magazines, newspapers etc. 75% for me, I think. I am very careful about grammar, correct pronunciation and the accent sometimes, although I am not perfect and can never be but "practice makes perfect" is really true.
Thanks for you response.

Basing from your post, I'd say that you have a very good command of the English language. That's a very good start. You said that you want to learn the correct pronunciation and accent. As a fellow Filipino who's here in the US, I can tell you that accent and pronunciation can also be different depending on which part of the US you are.
At the same time, we Filipinos use learned English and I have found that we sometimes use word that aren't used very much here in the US. Don't beat yourself up if your accent is not "American". What's more important is being fluent as diction and sentence construction is concerned.

I have thought about that too... I have a friend who is purely American. Even that's her first language, she still studied the grammar. I wondered why at first but from then on, she told me that some American do not speak English grammatically.
Thanks for your response.
