I was born in the 1960's so I remember the music from the 60s' right through the 60's 70's & 80's and beyond
The 80s music was brilliant, some of it was quite simular to that of the 1970's rock, ballards and other stuff! In fact some of the bands like ELO and Queen continued from the 70s through the 80s too! Those where brilliant times. We could dance to the stuff back then and really know we was having a good time.

Most deffinatly you could dance to it. In fact so much of it is still played in some of the discos all over the place to this very day.

The reason why you haven't heard of any eighties music is because it wasn't a decade worth noting, musically. The only group I can remember is "Flock of Seagulls" and "Big Country" who had a song by the same name. It was labled new wave music, but to my recollection, it really was the beginning to techno, which is still somewhat popular today.
