Can you sleep if there is noise in the room?

For me is a big problem to sleep in a noisy room. Every kind of noise disturbs me. I can sleep only in a room perfectly silent.

Well that depends on how much I allow myself to concentrate on the sound, how intrusive it is to the state of mind I am in at that time and whether or not it levels out other sounds. When I'm too tired and sleep is trying to overtake me, I am allready at a stage where sounds are fading away as it is. But if I'm thinking about something, or had a stressful day then it may be that when I force myself to concentrate on sleeping instead I start focusing on the smallest of sounds around me. Sometimes sounds are leveled out by other sounds allowing the mind to wonder about instead of focusing specifically on one particular sound. So the mind stops caring about it because it has a harder time trying to distinguish the sounds from eachother, in which case I fall asleep.

I have fallen asleep in a noisy room, I was extremely tired. Other times, I couldn't sleep in a noisy room. It depends on what mood I am in. If I am cranky, I demand silence when I am getting ready for bed. If I am in a happy mood, It doesn't matter if the room is noisy or not. I just fall asleep.
