I drive every night to pick my wife up from work. There are many spots on most nights at the exact same spot the State Troopers sit waiting for a speeder to zoom past their radar guns. Well just recently I was doing 63 in a 60 MPH zone. I saw a marked Trooper 4 or 5 car lengths in front of me. I was keeping pace with him or vice versa. Traffic always slows down when drivers see a trooper. So now there was a backlog of maybe 15 cars in a 4 lane area. Suddenly a motorcyclist zips by doing about 90 or more I thought. He then zipped between two pick up trucks. Just flying directly next to the trooper. Too funny I thought. The red & blue lights started to blink and the siren began its wailing in the night. About 1/2 mile up the road here was the motorcyclist shaking his head like why me? What did I do. I know this ticket had to cost him well over 4200 as I've had my share in the past. I haven't gotten a ticket for a few years now thankfully. Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket? Did you also shake your head in disgust or disbelief? LOL. Do share your ticket woes/tale.

Goodness, tickets got expensive. I would not know how much they cost since I have not had a speeding ticket or any other ticket for the matter since I was 18 years old and I just turned 48 a few months ago, so I feel blessed that I have not had to pay for one of these tickets.

My tickets are ironic in a sense. I had NEVER gotten a ticket in my life until I bought a 1993 Crown Victoria from the Wright County Sherrifs at an auction. Buy an old cop car and I became a lead foot. I accquired 15 speed tickets in a 5 year span losing my licese once for 90 days due to this fact. Got rid of the cop car and guess what? No more tickets. Ive gotten one in my 2005 Buick LeSabre and that was from going 40 on a 30 MPH exit ramp. I just didnt pay attention to the sign. LOL Thanks for the response also.

My first and only speeding ticket was when I was 23. I mixed up which street had the 70 as the speed limit. I was caught doing 65 in a 60 zone. The poor policeman did not have backup and he yelled as I went by. I did stop but he was puffing and panting by the time he reached me. I felt rather guilty that I had mixed the streets but it did teach me one vital lesson. Make sure you check the speed limit signs no matter where you are.

He was puffing and panting as he reached you?

Wow! I've never knew a policeman could do that. I thought they had to be plugged into the car's outlet for them to work. Now that's scary! His backup must of been busy writing a ticket for someone else at the time. Now your going to have me watching the sidewalks as well. What they will go thru just to catch a speeder. Unreal!

Every few years I get a spoeeding fine. I hadn't had one for about 8 years, until last year, when I received a big fine. I was very annoyed about it.
You see, they lowered the speed limit on suburban streets from 60km to 50 km. This didn't apply to main thoroughfares, so there was a fair biot of confusion.
I was driving on one road, a fairly big one, & there was no 50km sign, so I assumed it to be 60. I was apparently driving at 63km, which normally one wouldn't be fined for. I drive up this road, and ten minutes later drove back.
Two weeks later I received a $350.00 fine. I was fined both ways on this road by a hidden camera.
Later I drove the length of this road trying to find the 50k sign.. There is none. But this is not an excuse it seems.
Of course, my ranting here, is no excuse for deliberate, dangerous speeding.

It has been over 10 years since I got a speeding ticket..probably closer to 20 years. I have slowed down considerably.
Every night though, on my way home from work, I see the police writing out tickets, sometimes more then one during the last 8 miles of the ride. It amazes me that people don't figure it out and slow down.
Every ticket I have received in the past though, was reduced to a non-moving violation. The last one I got was for failure to maintain vehicle - which was true..I had an electrical problem and had to replace the fuse for the speedometer at least once a day. I took it for repairs twice. They never found the problem..then it just stopped happening.

I am 31 years old and still don't know how to drive Grandpa Bob.LOL! So I never got any ticket. We have a company driver who drives me wherever my work takes me and there is my father who just loves to drive us around so I just keep on putting off learning how to drive. As to idiotic speeders, they just got what they deserve. I would have liked the penalty to be more severe because they are not only putting thier life at risk but also the lives of other people.

I have not gotten a speeding ticken in several years. It was in a new car when my daughter was learning how to drive. I had my grandmother and mom in the car. I asked my grandmother not to tell my grandfather, but she told my daughter. yuck! My daughter is now 29 that tells you how many years ago. In my own defense I have not driven in 1.5years due to dizzy spells.
My son go a speeding ticket in September and one in January. Now he has two points on his driving recored. In California that means an increase in insurance cost if he gets any more points he will lose his license. His insurance will be going up. When our policy is renewed he will be buying his own insurance. I will not pay for his lack of judgement.
My husband got his last speeding ticket around then also. We had gotten a new car and she was fast. We are boring slow drivers or just lucky speeders you have to decide.

LOL-- Oh my why did I get pulled over?? I have never passed a police officer and wondered- but I have been speeding and not seen the cops and gotten pulled over- It's been a couple of years for me- I paid alot of fines in the past- I think "lead foot" described me best! My wallet likes it better when I don't speed as well as my insurance company!

i guess the fine for a ticket is the same and costly throughout the world.well my worst story was when i was late one day for a very important program where i was supposed to greet the chief guest i was speeding away on my bike where i was pulled over and despite all my pleading i was made to wait an hour and given a ong lecture.i was really emabarassed to get back to the function.but thankfully thinks were not bad as expected.they managed to get a replacement to greet the chief guest.:-)

I had a lead foot when I was younger but now I've cut back on my speeding. Usually save it for the interstate where it's 65 mph. $42.00 for a ticket? wow! that is cheap. It's close to $100 here. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in over 5yrs. Last time I was doing 45 in a 30 zone and didn't realize I was going that fast. I always watch my speed down that particular stretch of road now and watch others get pulled over for speeding. I had received so many tickets back when I got my 1st car that my license was suspended twice and had to take a defensive driving course the 2nd time in order to get it back.

we have a lot of speeders around here too, especially in summer.
crosswalks are actually dangerous, they don't slow down.
a couple of times i've seen them do it right past a cruiser and nothing was done about it.

I almost got a speeding ticket once but luckily the officer let me go with a warning. I often get passed by other vehicles because I don't go over the speed limit as much as they seem to like to go. Usually I will just glance over at them an think to myself I hope that there is a cop ahead to visit with you.

I do not agree with that. Just because some people like to drive really har that doesnt mean that they have to be bad. As long as they don't hit nobody.

I was driving and it was during rush hour. Isn't it funny how it's called rush hour, but during this time you are stuck in traffic and can't rush anywhere. haha

I know this is going to drop my rateing down but hey, it's already down to a 8 so how low can I go? Haha. I have been pulled over so many times it's not even funny. I have a habit of turning my radio on really load next thing I know Im speeding along singing. I have gotten pulled over for doing 92 in a 35, 78 in a 45 & even for haveing my foot on the dash when driving oh & for haveing a foot out the window when driving not to mention driving on the wrong side of the road. Luckily for me, I always got out of it by flirting with a cop. I konw, how horrable am I? I have only gotten 1 ticket out of the hundrads of times i've been pulled over. You guessed it, that was from a female cop. I was doing 75 in a 55. The judge (who is my aunts best friend) threw it out. All I had to pay was $67 for court cost. Lucky me.

Well, the last actual ticket I received was quite a few years ago. The trooper just couldn't think of a reason NOT to give me one. LOL! I had one cop stop me once, just to get out, and tell me that there was someone going faster than me, so he was going to get them instead. (WHEW!)
Most other times I've been stopped I just receive a warning. My excuses have always been legitimate--New car, good song on the radio and lost where I was, sick and didn't want to be driving anyway. They have always gotten me a warning.
Now, in my knowing years I always use my "speed control" when highway driving. I can't have that many more excuses up my sleeve. :)

Thankfully I have only been pulled over one time in the 20+ years that I have been driving, and then, thankfully, I just got a warning, no ticket.
My husband and I overslept one morning. This was before my son was born. I don't know why but for some reason our alarm clock didn't go off. We jumped up when we realized what time it was. My husband didn't have as far to go to work as I did but he had to be there earlier. He rushed after getting ready and headed on to work. I had to get Amanda up, who was about four years old at the time, and get her ready to go to my mother-in-law's who was keeping her that day and then take off to my job. It was nearly 7:00 a.m. when I got Amanda to her granny's house and I had to be at work at 7:30. I took off down the road to get there. The speed limit was 45 mph but I honestly don't remember how fast I was going. I was just trying to not be late for work. Unfortunately a policeman was passing through one of the small communities I had to go through and he spotted me. When the blue lights went on I knew I had to stop. I was so embarrassed and prayed that no one would pass by where we were pulled over.
As soon as I got parked I went ahead and pulled out my driver's license. When he came to the window he asked me if I realized I was speeding. I just told him the truth. I told him I realized it and how sorry I was, that I was afraid I would be late for work because I had overslept. I was so fortunate and blessed!! He was really nice about it, gave me a warning and said "Just don't let it happen again." Believe me, it hasn't happened either. That is the closest I have ever come and the closest I ever want to be to getting a speeding ticket!!

Happily, I haven't got a speeding ticket yet..~~lol And I'm not looking forward to have one..~~lol But it must be though to be apprehended by law enforcers. I was apprehended once for parking my car in a restricted area. But, luckily, they just pointed me to another parking slot. And I must admit it was quite unpleasant.~~lol
Have a great day Grandpa Bob!(^^,)
