Sure many have heard of the Opus Dei -a sort of organization within the Catholic Church.. How much do you really know about it ? Would you consider it a simple part of a religion or more of a cult-like thing ?
A bit of History:
The organization, supposed to represent santity was founded by Catholic Priest Josemaria Escriva in 1928 (Spain). Since then it has congregated over 100,000 lay people, many of them very influential and wealthy people. Even tho Pope John Paul II approved in 2002 the canonization of Josemaria Escriva as a Saint whose only labout was to educate and train catholics into achieving the same santity Jesus had, it is well known that some of the 'procedures or beliefs' of the practice itself includes body mortification and sometimes torture.
Do you think this agrees with the main ideal of the Catholic Church ? Or is it something that in the long run will cause contradiction ?

This Opus Dei is a political arm of the catholics to preserve the status quo of a government and maintain the hold of the catholics in the political arena of any country. Many undertakings of this Opus Dei is covert, meaning it is done in secrecy,What are they hiding?

You are right.Preservation of the prevailing system will preserve their hold in business, the ownership of the vast track of lands they acquire illegaly, and the continued flow of money to the vatican derived from the unsuspecting faithful catholics donation.
