Thoughts will keep on flowing in our minds. Is it possible to avoid thoughts flow. Yes, If we practice meditation we can eliminate all un necessary thoughts and keep the mind blank.

You are right samson. Meditation eliminates our thoughts. By this your concentration level increases. You realise a divine feeling inside, which stops anger. You develop a quality of loving all, even creatures, develop helping nature and calmness which is very very necessary for current stress. Finally it helps improve your over-all health condition as anxiety, anger, tension etc. are controlled.
Apart from breath watching, you can close your eyes, visualise your ishta daiva i.e. your favourite God, and concentrate on looking at that God. If no favourite God, then visualise a candle light and concentrate on that. Let the thoughts come and go, do not bother. Slowly they will stop coming after you practice for some days. See the marvelous improvement in you.

Thanks Samson for selecting my response as best. I really enjoyed writing to your discussion. Let at least some people benefit by your discussion by taking up meditation. I think these sort of discussions, apart from giving happiness and money, will help people in day-to-day life.

To keep the mind blank I envision a blackboard, or green depending upon what school system you were in, without anything on it but chalk is available in the tray. I venture to say that is used for after the meditative state, to bring into focus what the light of realizing higher intelligence brought to the naked eye. It can be written on the board, permanently etched into the brain, despite ego fighting it or not.

Really there are various methods of meditations. I am still practising meditation to attain the mindless state. Sometimes I am successful and sometimes not, but I hope I will be able to do it one day. I do it by watching my outer activities like waliking, talking, eating etc. anything I do.
Besides that I silently watch my breath. It is helpful to balnk the mind. You also can try another way, that is to carefully watch your thoughts, any thought that is in your mind right now, slowly you will find that these thoughts are coming to your mind less than before.... The number of thoughts will be reduced...and if you can continue practising, it will go on reducing, your mind will be silent.
Friends, if you know any other easy technique that is essy to do please let me know.

I've never tried meditation but now that i know that it can help eliminate unnecessary thoughts then i might try it now. I always have so many negative thoughts in my mind especially when i am alone....It's hard to get rid with them and i'm having a hard time dealing with...I will try meditation and maybe it will work for me.

Congrats, you thought about meditation correctly. It eliminates ununcessary thoughts, and makes the thoughts that are necessary for day to day life, to flow.
