deepak, we kind of use lot of acronyms in chatting sites, where easy, fast and quick repartees are appreciated. we want to deliver our thoughts in the same frequency of talking. hence these abbreviations come in handy. smileys and acronyms are invented thus. however, mylot, is a chatting site, but not in the true sense. we chat over a long period of time, where urgent, quick response is not quite the baseline. we talk over months even!! so, while some very common acronyms is acceptable, we should not use more of it, so much so, that the writeup loses it aesthetic appeal. that was my take on it. and as for your query: P: stick out tongues ( in dismayed situation) LOL: laugh out loud

Mimpi, thanks for explaining the issue in a simple but intereting manner. I have never done any 'chatting business' on any site...so perhaps due to that I was not aware of the whole issue. Als, I was not aware of many of acronyms...which our friend 'POLO' has described above. I think you are right...if we use it (acronyms) here....our replies...and discussions will lose its aesthetic sense and that will not be a good thing. 'LOL' has been interpreted in two manners here by members 'Lots of Love' and 'Laugh out Loud'. I think we can use both...depending upon the context. What I could understand about using capital 'P' is that it is perhaps used in a negative or say teasing sense??? "hum jissey hindi may 'Jhibh (tounge) cchidhana yaa nikalan kahatey hai (jaisey cchotey bacchey kartey hain)' kya yeh vahi 'P' hai????" pl. let me know. deepak

LOL is essentially LAUGHING OUT LOUD. its better to use it as that only. and reagrding P you are right, its used in a taunting note. your hindi analysis is just apt. thanx to POLO for the list.

I agree that there should be uniformity in using LOL and it should be used essentially as LAUGHING OUT LOUD. I will use it as stated. Thanks for my hindi analysis. I am selecting yours as 'BR'. deepak
