I had achieved the rating of '10' with the support of my dear friends and was very happy to note that three days ago. But to my utter surprise and grave shock...today I have noticed that my rating has gone down to '9'. I am feeling very much disappointed and disheartened. Will my friends guide me what would have gone wrong with me, so that I was down graded from 96/100 to 91/100. I would like to know the probable reasons, so that I would be more careful in furture. Shall be thankful for the useful inputs from the knowldedeable and expeirenced members/friends.

Deepak try not to let it get you down. The same thing happened to me when I first got my 10 star. I was really happy but then it dropped a few days later and I was pretty bummed but didn't say anything about it. Then in time, it moved back up.
Just keep doing your best. Post from your heart (like you already do) and in time it will move back up.
I'm thinking that maybe MyLot had to make some adjustments and maybe the discussions where people rated you (+) were deleted or something and when MyLot made those deletions, your rating got moved back down to whatever it was before. I'm not sure of course, just guessing.
Keep in mind, there will always be people who want to 'rain on your parade' and mark you (-) because you have a 10 star and they have a 1 star. Don't let them bother you. It's a reflection on THEM and not YOU. Those of us who are your friends here, know that you are a good poster and you do your best. That's all that matters. Stay positive, continue to enjoy MyLot and you'll have a 10 star again soon!
If it helps at all, I've rated you (+) in every discussion/reply I've come across of yours.
Smile and Have a GREAT Day ♥

Diana, thanks very much for providing me consolation and encouragement. Till I saw your reply, I was feeling very much disappointed and dejected and till the moment I saw my rating coming down to '9'....I kept on thinking what caused this dropping. I was badly in need of support...which you provided me. Your guess appears to me correct...it might be that some of my discussions might have got deleted and consequently the positive rating which I received from my friends also got deleted.
Your moral boosting reply has helped me regain my composure and have reduced my tension.
I hope that with constant support of kind and dearest friends like you...I will once again climb the ladder and will reach '10' soon.
Thanks again from bottom of my heart.
Thanks also for posting beautiful picuture and comments on my profile....wonderful on your part.

I am not sure how it works, I always rate positive topics I respond to and rate positive most responds to my topics....my rating is always on the same or similar level..and I respond mostly to my friends discussions...so..should I feel bad...that my friends don't rate mine discussions?...I don't..
the only way I can improve it is to change discussions I reply to or change my friends...also...I think that responding is much better that running new discussion after new discussion...
keep smiling!

Don't worry about it. The rating is determined by Mylot users. Sometimes people rate negatively because they don't like your response, sometimes because they are envious and sometimes they don't like a certain person and rate whatever that person says with a -. Just ignore the rating and keep up the good work.

I'm sorry to hear these Deepek.I wish I can say what you must to do to get back your 10 star but is hard you understand the rating here.I mean I know that deepens how the people they rate you but I can't find any reason someone can rate you with -.You are always so kind, add comments to your responses and both your discussions and posts have quality. You are the second friend of mine that in few days the star rate go down and as I read some other members also.
I'll do as I do with my other friend ...I'll start rate you with + (I always do)but even more if I can now.I don't know if gonna help but....
Anyway please don't let these disheartening you...your faithful friend Aidonia

Aidonia, I knew this that how I am feeling disappointed on my rating go down....same emotions apparently would have been felt by my dearest and kind frineds like you. Your reply reflects those feelings which I am going through and I am deeply touched by your reply. And I see my sweet friends have immediately responded to my discussion so as not to feel me dejected by this development. Undoubtedly..this has given me a great moral boosting and solace. Till I read your comments, I was feeling very much disappointed and dejected and till the moment I saw my rating coming down to '9'....I kept on thinking what caused this dropping. I was badly in need of support...which you provided me. Your constant support has uplifted me and because of noble friends like you I could even touch the rating of '9' or say '10'. I hope that with constant support of kind and dearest friends like you...I will once again climb the ladder and will reach '10' soon.
Thanks again from bottom of my heart.

Mine was a 10 for months before it dropped. I don't think I did anything differently to cause it, but it's likely that someone was offended by something I said without me meaning it. I do talk on a lot of "controversial" subjects, so it was likely that I finally said something that offended enough people.
I really can't think of anything you would be doing wrong. Everything I've seen by you has been quality work. Normally I like to at least give people an idea of what could have gone wrong, but I just don't see anything from you that could have caused it. Likely someone just doesn't like you, and there isn't much you can do about that.

bazzo - you won't see your star and rating until you reach 100 postings. You're still being rated now, you just can't see it until you hit (100). I hope that helps. I know when I first started posting here, I was confused on why I didn't have a star too.
Good luck!

Probably someone rated u with a -, if u didnt do something wrong they nmight have done it out of jealousy. I also think that if u are not active for a few days your rating can go down, but I am not sure about that one. However I will give u a +, maybe it will be back to 10 tomorrow =)

Hi Deepak...let me first introduce myself..
My name is Vani and i am from Hyderabad...
Well...coming to your discussion lemme just share one point with you which i thought it will help somehow to you...
I became a member of this community 5 months back and from my prevoius observations my rating has gone recenlty from one month from 6 to 7 rating...earlier it was 5. At that time i used to start new discussions every time...But my rating never went up it was the same for 2 months later i realized that rather than initiating a new discussion everytime , let me repond to friend's discussions and check this time...but you beleive it or not with short span of time my rating was 7...So i think that this point also should be kept in mind though it was a very small one but might prove worth while....So one thing i observed by responding to others discussions we will get exposed to so many people and good way of getting new acquaintences...well i made many friends similarly....hope if i continue its not very far to reach 10 rating...i know i can reach thats not a big deal....ok friend thank you for posting such a nice discussion ...Bye take care and keep smiling..
Vani.

Hi VANI,
Superb and outstanding response Vani. I really appreciate your views and the useful tips and guidance given to me. After going through your reply...I can also come to this conclusion that posting replies would be more useful than starting discussions...I mean ratio of your replies should be more than the discussions started by you. I am really thankful for your advice. I will keep it in mind. I hope we will continue to support each other.
Best of lUck to you also. and
Keep Smiling...(as your avatar is smiling).

I do not think any one know why the rating goes up and down, I have been fortunate in mine and I only do three things I rate every discussion I answer, I always try to give a good answer, at least 100 words, and add to the discussion, and I do my best responses at least once a week. I have had my 10 rating for quite a while now and it was only when I did all those thing I got it and have never lost it touch wood.

This happened to me a few weeks ago when my star fall down from 10 to 9 and i too had little disappointment at that time. But it again went up with 10 and points too increased.
I think some of your topics and responses are marked negative so it leads to decrease in reputation points and star rating went down.dont worry..i wish you will reach star 10 at the earliest.keep posting...

I don't think that anyone really knows for sure how the star rates are calculated. I know it is not spelled out anywhere. I know that it is completely based on the + and - ratings that we give each other. In my opinion, you make positive postings, I have rated you as such on many of them. Sometimes I wonder if everyone is using this rating system, because I know that many people here don't give it much consideration. So, I wonder if the number of postings we do goes up and we don't get any ratings for them if it will cause the rate to fall. Does that make sense. That is just my guess. No one really knows.

My rating also was downgraded form 93 to 91 and felt bad about it. Mylotters told me not to worry about it. They give me pointers like to always give + rating in the hope that others will also give you a plus rating always. And the most important one is to check your unresolved discussion. There you can see the list of discussion you have with 0 reponse and discussion without best response. You need to clean it up and rate everyone response. Happy posting.

I'm a newbie here so I don't have any idea what you're talking about rating and such thing since I don't have a star on my own, maybe in the future I guess if I will concentrate to participate here in mylot in the future days.
What I advise you is that just don't get mad about it, I'm quite sure that you'll get that rating in due time, have patience my friend.

CopyPaper, I would like to tell you that when you post atleast '100' replies...you will get your rating. A star will come against your name...and there will be number in between to show you ...where do you stand.
Thanks for your advice that I should be patient.
best of luck to you.

Hay, dont worry too much about that. You know all this time i was a 9 with 95/100 and today, i am a 10 again with 95/100. Its frustrating to think about this type of things on myLot cos they are not very transparent about these things. Anyway, you dont worry, 9 is also a very good ranking and you are still over 90. May be you have given some unproductive answers or something, i dont know. Good luck in future and take care.

It seems to do that quite a lot, usually someone who disagrees with you but rather than discussing it decides they will just give you a - rating. I spend most of my time on here slowly climbing up to about 90 and then suddenly dropping back down to 75 and having to start again. Its quite annoying, although lately i've not really been paying attention to my rating

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I'm pretty sure your rating doesn't affect your earnings at all. Mine dropped from 10 to 9 but I hadn't posted anything for a while. Maybe someone had a bit of a grudge against you and gave you a few minuses or something?

I have had the same experience. I had the blue 10 star for a long time and then one morning it just dropped to 9. Our number rating depends on how people rate us. So your star dropped because a person(s) rated your negative. In my case I know why it happened. One time I saw a discussion about religion that really caught my eye. Normally I don't get involved in discussions about religion or politics. I felt like the person was spreading false facts about a certain religion so I gave my opinion that was against the person who started the discussion. The next day my rating went down to 9 and I never managed to get it up. I think the person went to all my discussions and rated me negative. Unfortunately on mylot you can rate somebody even if you don't participate in the discussion. You can rate them about the discussion they started, you can rate them when they answer a discussion (it does not have to be your own discussion etc.) It takes so little to get the star down but a lot of work to get it back. As I always say thanks to mylot these ratings don't affect our earnings otherwise if somebody doesn't like you then they will make sure you will not earn a dime lol I gave you a plus rating for this discussion it may help a little heh? I'm sure you will manage to get it back if you care with the help of all your friends. Good luck dpk262006.

VotreAmie, what a wonderful and positive reply and comments you have written. Simply superb and outstanding. And thanks for enlightening me with your expereince...and I feel whatever you say is right that any body can rate anyone positive or negative....we have no hold over that aspect. Also, it gives me a great relief to know that lowering down of rating does not effect our earning. Thanks for rating me positive. I will also do whatever I could do in your discussions. You appear to me a very nice person.
