i stopped giving jarred baby food when they were eating more of what we ate, so around 9 or 10 months of age. i also took my cues from the baby. the more of our foods that they ate, the less interested they were in eating baby food. take your cues from you child. they know when they want more than just baby food. just use your better judgement on what is ok to give, like do not give hot dogs or nuts. but you can mash up your dinner too if need be for the baby.

I just took my daughter for her 1 year appt today and asked the Dr about this. She said that her meals now should mainly be big people food. She said the baby food doesn't have much taste and she'll start to prefer our food anyway. We've been giving her some of what we eat for the last few months anyway and I've noticed that she doesn't seem as interested in her baby food as she use to, so I guess when I finish the jars I just bought, she'll be done with it for good.
The Dr recommended giving her fruit for snacks and dessert because as she gets older she will start to prefer junk food over healthy food.

That's one of my big things too...I have SOOO much baby food that I don't want to stop giving her baby food and have 50 jars just sitting in my cabinet. So I think I'll start adding big girl food a little at a time and once I run out I just wont buy anymore and keep her on big girl food. It'll be a while...lol...I seriously have a ton!

I can't remember if it was nine or ten months. I'd mash up what we were eating and gave it to him. He also loved anything with noodles at that age. Whole wheat bread dissolves easily, so he could gum a grilled cheese sandwich. Also bananas and avocados are easy to mash up. He also ate dry cereal like cheerios.

My daughter has been eating mostly big people food since she was around 8 months old, i did try & get her to eat the baby stuff but it's more nutritious to make things from scratch anyway with real veggies & stuff.
My daughter (amost 11 months now) loves mashed potato, carrot sticks, broccoli heads, noodles, spaghetti & pasta, she loves oranges so i give her the pieces of that, toast works well for breakfast, fruit salad works well too.
My little one eats everything we do anyway, some things i just have to cut in to smaller pieces, other things she prefers in longer lengths (carrots).
You can try just about anything, fish fingers are an easy thing to eat & pick up as well so you could try that! Instant noodles work a treat as well.
