According to my pediatrician, my baby could start to eat solid foods at 6 months old. My baby could eat rice with soup, pasta, veggies and fish. Preparing special food for my baby is quite fun and always exciting for me. I'll appreciate recipes too, please post. Thanks in advance.

my daughter started on cereal at 4 months, she took it well & was eating VERY well at 6 months! I mostly bought jars of food for her - in the 4-6 month range but she always loved mashed potato & mashed sweet potato - she still does now at 11 months.
I always found my daughter loved instant noodles coz she could slurp them up easily - the only things she had trouble with was macaroni coz she could never chew it properly.
It all depends on the child too - my daughter had a LOT of milk at 4 months so the Dr said it was fine for me to try her on cereals & stuff.
Make sure you stick with veggies mainly coz babies like the sweet stuff - so, if you start with sweet stuff, you'll have trouble getting them to take the veggies after.
Try some toast too - it's easy to do, you can add a spread of some kind & see what happens, my daughter loves bread with jam on it, she also likes toast with either vegemite on it or cream cheese!

I started my daughter eating rice cereal at about six months, and i have gradually introduced most other foods since then. She has a few teeth now and is even eating some cheerio's at 9 months. Today we shared a bowl of yogurt, and i will soon give her cheese for the first time. The only thing she hasn't had yet is meat. well and you should never give a baby peanut butter or honey. Or anything they can choke on! lol. but i'm sure you know that. I made all my own baby food too, except the fruit. i gave her those in a jar. but i made all the veggies myself. I dont know that it was fun, but it was cheaper then buying a crapload of those little jars :)

I'm not an expert but I started my daughter on solid foods when she was about six months old. I first gave her rice cereal and yogurts. I then would get fruits and vegetables and put them into the blender. I had her eat everything new for three days before I moved on to somthing else to make sure she was allergic to it. After she got used to the fruits and vegetables, she was ready for mixed foods because I knew she wasn't allergic to any ingrediant. As she got more teeth and more experience, she began eating what we were eating. My daughter is now 16 months old and she eats like a pro. I put the same food we eat on her plate, put her in her highchair and let her go. I don't know if this will work for you, but it did great for me. Good luck!
