How do I go about Writing an Ebook To make money?

Ive been rolling around this idea of writing an e-book for a while now even finished the first few pages. The idea is to give every bit of info it takes to learn how to make money online using almost any program. I know I want to give it away free, but I was also thinking about making a master copy where people can add their own referral links and get rid of their own e-books.
I haven't figured out if I should sell the master copy or give it away as well. Also I have no Idea where to start. Ive got most of the material but I've never written an e-book before. And how do i make it where people can download it from the internet. I need some feedback desperately.

one simple solution would be to use cafepress, its free to join, however you would have to charge for it. Other solution would be to write it in pdf format, host it, then offer it.

Thanks Scene that is a great info site. I am glad I finally got respones on this topic I was worried I'd never get the info I needed.
