If you had to give birth, how would you choose to do it vs your husband's choice

I wanted to give birth naturally and my husband supported that fully, until I was in full blown labour. We'd agreed before hand that there would be no intervention unless I couldn't make any decisions for myself and he needed to do what was best for my son and me, or if I got to the point of no return painwise and he needed to step in and speak for me.
Well, I got to the point of no return when the midwife tried to lift my cervix over the baby's head to speed up the birth process. I became incoherent and lost just about all senses mentally.
I don't remember much after that, but my husband says he told me to say yes to an epidural (apparently he couldn't take anymore - weird cos I wasn't even holding his hand!) and oh what a wonderful option! I was very against it prior to labour, now I am it's biggest advocate. If u can have one and would rather be painfree and hae a clear mind, use the epidural. Course my mind was v cloudy even after the epidural, but at least I was able to talk and joke and my son came into the world in a very relaxed environment. But BOY DID I FEEL IT AFTERWARDS!!!!!
So, if u could choose, how would u do it? Would u include ur husband? Do u think he has a choice in the matter or is he just a supportive bystander?
