Hi, kindly share your knowledge regarding PDD. How does it occur? what are the predisposing factors? What are the symptoms and signs in the baby? What are the diagnostic and treatment modalities available? What is the prognosis? Do you personally take care of any kid with this problem? What are the day to day difficulties you face in taking care of them? Kindly come out. Thanks.

PDD has become a catchall for disorders that are autistic like inasmuch as they effect social behavior, communication and sometimes take on autistic like behavior (repetetive behavior). In a baby, it would be very hard to diagnose early on and I would imagine that it might not be something that can definitively be diagnosed until maybe over the age of two. PDD has nothing to do with a child's intelligence and many children with PDD are highly intelligent, but have trouble interacting with other children and have trouble making eye contact, have trouble playing interactively and have trouble communicating or expressing their feelings. Early intervention is really the best thing so if your child has been diagnosed, try to find a program that will take him or her as early intervention can make a huge difference in how the child behaves in later years.
