The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are two of my favourite books of all time so when i heard that a new JRR Tolkien book is being released i was very excited but also a bit sceptical. He died quite a while ago so why was this book never released before?. Has anyone read it? is it good and worthy of Tolkiens name or just a clever way of cashing in on the success of the films?

It was put together by Tolkien's son Christopher. Tolkien has the story and book laid out, but never quite finished it. Christopher went back to the original manuscripts and notes to bring everything together.
I haven't read it yet but am looking forward to it for sure and I think it is worthy of the Tolkien name.

That sounds alright. Hopefully it will be better than the Silmarillion, started that 5 times and never nade it past the 2nd chapter

I have a feeling it will be somewhat similar to the Silmarillion. I could be wrong, just a feeling I have.
