Crows scare me

We have suddenly acquired a flock of crows which are nesting in our cherry tree. I have lived here for twelve years and this is the first time they have arrived. I am a country person and there is an abhorrance of crows too near the home as they are thought to be harbingers of death and sickness. To be honest I am uncomfortable with them being there, although I do know this is a totally irrational fear, I wish they would go far, far away. What do you know about crow folklore, have you found any of it to work out as being true, and what do you think of crows generally?

Unpleasant, they look like little fat old men, lol. They can make a whole lot of noise and mess too. We went on holiday near a rookery a couple of years ago and they were really scary, pecking things and pinching the rubbish etc. The noise from 3 - 4am was awful. I think the common sense thing is that because they do go in the rubbish they can spread bugs but I havn't heard any folklore. All I can think of is the use in magic where they are pinned on a door as a warning or to keep away evil spirits, depending on your beliefs. I wouldn't feed the birds or leave anything edible around in the hopes that they move on when they've nested. Hope like heck they don't come back.

Bless you, maybe they'll get fed up and leave you in peace.

Well if they do they will be the first species that has left me in peace! Normally they discover me and that is that. Here to stay. Maybe I shouldn't have called the place "Hotel California", you know, "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave . . ."

Oh, these don't look very fat, they are just noisy and I don't like them because I have been brought up with a country dislike of the things. I feed the other birds so I suppose they ironically also get nurtured by the person who would rather they went and lived somewhere else! I would still rather they went somewhere else but they do seem very comfortable in the tree alas!

Mr Crow - Mr. Crow, guardian of mysteries. Bringer of sacred messages.
Well, you had a crow in your house too a couple of weeks back, because I was born under the sign of Libra and the crow is my totem animal. ha ha ha! Less of the 'old'!:-( Perhaps I tempted them along, or had you thought about the "bite" you got... could be relevant. I'm pleased to tell you that crow lore is not all bad. What you say is true to lore but in contrast, Mr Crow knows the unknowable mysteries of creation and is the keeper of all sacred law. Crow medicine people are masters of illusion. You shouldn't even attempt to try and figure Mr Crow out for he is the power of the unknown at work, and something special is about to happen. He is also the guardian of ceremonial magic and healing. In any healing circle, Mr Crow is present... he guides the magic of healing and the change in consciousness that will bring about a new reality and dispel "disease" or illness. You can rest assured that whenever crows are around, magic is nearby and you are about to experience a change in consciousness. Mr. Crow can give you the courage to enter the darkness of the void, which is the home of all that is not yet in form. Mr Crow is an omen of change, and if he keeps appearing to you he may be telling you that you have a powerful voice when addressing issues that you do not quite understand or feel that they are out of balance. He is the bringer of messages from the spirit world, and is thought to dwell beyond the realm of time and space. When you meet Mr Crow, he could be telling you that there will be changes in your life and that possibly you should step by the usual way you view reality and look into the inner realms... walk your talk...be prepared to let go of your old thinking and embrace a new way of viewing yourself and the world. Does that make you feel a little better, my friend? I'm sure you can see the relevance, as I can, of what happened last week? It bears thinking about, don't you think? A very interesting discussion, Shelagh, which has put my thoughts on another plane now. ha ha ha. Brightest Blessings my dear friend... have no fear. The negative lore was only triggered off by one event. Love and hugs. x + rating

It also might interest you to know, Shelagh that Cherry Blossom is a sign of spiritual beauty; and the Cherry Tree, a sign of education. Taking into account that Mr. Crow is a messenger from the spiritual world, and the cherry blossom is out at the moment, that kind of ties in, don't you think? :-) Just an added thought, my friend. :-)

Well, I think maybe they visited you to bring the message, from the spiritual world, that spiritual healing could be a good choice by you. So perhaps put that feeling of doubt behind you and progress in faith? The other thing you mentioned... yes, again, it could be a sign of acceptance. Tell me... have the crows been back since, and how many of them were there, three by any chance? I would be interested to know the answer to that. Strange how many people fear crows, and that fear all grew from one event.

oh flippin' 'eck! They are in the front garden, so you gotta get past them to get into the flat!!!! There are NONE in the back garden, where we are having the barbecue, hokey-cokey? Oh, and Father in Law aint been back five minutes and he is causing trouble. Apparently ALL the birds are GIRLS and he was going to get a Boy bird just before he went abroad. I think his ears are still ringing from my thoughts on that matter!

Tell you what, you wear flat shoes, Other Half will take Gissi and I will use that blindfold I bought and gently lead you into the flat, how about that? As to my Boys (they won't answer to Ladies, after all this time!) they are little Angels, honest! If you support Other Half and Pa in Law in this absolutely ridiculous, aggravating, annoying, preposterous venture to breed these critters YOU can have the babies THERE until they are old enough to depart. So I take it you are now firmly on my side, in all this (evil grin).

Yup, that was one way to deal with them, but my family would not even do that! Ravens are even bigger than crows yet they have a wise, rather revered reputation. Strange, isn't it?

Living on the countryside myself as well those sort of stories have came by me as well, myself I kinda like crows though. I think it are quite nice looking birds to be honest, dunno why many people dislike them.

I don't disagree that they are nice looking birds, but I just like them to look pretty somewhere else, far away from my home. Have you any idea where the superstition came from, as you are country folk too?
