I think my husband has type 111, Is there such a thing? I have heard of this he takes 4 shots a day. I feel so sorry for him sometimes. But that's the way it is. How many people are Diabetic or do you have a family member that has it? Have a good day Marcie.

Well I never heard of Type III for Diabetes and my father is Diabetic, as is my brother and sister. My sister is also a nurse and I asked her and she had never heard of it. I did a look on the web and found this site: http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_types/whatype.php
They mention Type 1, Type 1.5 and Type 2. There is no mention what so ever of a Type 3. Not sure where you heard of it but I thinnk syou read something wrong or heard it wrong.

What symptoms? You haven't stated those. Did you check out that link I gave you and what the different symptoms are for the different forms? Also what did his doctor say he have?

I've never heard of type III diabetes. My mom and my mother in law have type 2 diabetes. They both take 1 shot a day. I am not a diabetic and I hope I don't inherit it. What type was your hubby diagnosed with? Why do you think he's a type III?
All my best,
Jerryn

Good Morning Marcie!
I don't think I have ever heard of Type III diabetes. I am a diabetic and my mother-in-law is also but we are both Type II. She has gotten better control of hers but my mother-in-law was having to take four shots at one time. I have a sliding scale to take before meals.
I hope this will help you out some.
Have a GREAT DAY!! :):)

Personally, I have never heard of this one, or type, but am sure there are many different types around. I feel that it takes someone Specialized in Diabeties and Diabetes care to tell a person what type they are, and what is the Best way to Treat it.
I am a Type 1.5 and little is known about that one as well, but it is important I do what I can to control mine.
For your husband, just make sure he sees a Doctor specialized in Diabetes, and maybe get a Nutritionalist or someone who can help with his Diet as well, and just take it one day at a time. Wishing you the best.

Type 1 diabetes is the type that children have. Type 2 is the type that develops in older people. I have never heard of any other types outside of those. Where did you find an article or medical opinion that gave you the information that there is another type?

Most people diagnosed with diabetes is often told to be either Type I or Type II diabetic. These two major categories are not defined by age. Type II can develop in overweight children and Type I can develop in older adults.
But there are other types of diabetes. These includes:
1. Type III diabetes or gestational diabetes occuring during pregnancy and usually disappears after childbirth. Some patients are reclassified after delivery.
2. Type IV diabetes or diabetes associated with genetic defects, pancreatic disease, hormonal abnormalities or side effects of certain medications.
3. Type 1.5 or Slow Onset Type 1 or Latent Auto-immune Diabetes in Adults or LADA. This is for those adults who are not overweight, have little or no resistance to insulin and don't need immediate insulin treatment.
It is important to know which type of diabetes a person has. Different types have different needs and treatment for better management of the disease. It is best to consult a diabetes specialist and not just a general practitioner. They know better and can give you a proper diagnosis. And you should always seek a second opinion to be sure.

Yes I have heard of it. My neighbor was tested for it just last week.
It is when a type I also develops the type II. I asked my doctor about it and he said it was caused when a type I did not adhere to a proper diet and depended on insulin to do what his body couldn't do. So now the cells are refusing the insulin. Just like in type II. I think this would be very hard to deal with.
