better than thou attitudes

I tell you, this week I have had it with the better than thou attitudes! Lately, on our military base, there have ben teens who seem to have nothing better to do than harrass residents to the point some are afraid to even go out and walk their dogs. I don't live on the base, but I was not happy that this was an issue, so I decided to try and do something about it. I called the people in charge of housing and boy howdy what nasty, rude responses I got from this lady! She said she couldn't do anything about it because they were privately contracted to run the housing and keep all on check. HUH? Then why can't they do anything about it? They are contracted to take care of housing? Doesn't that include making sure the curfew rules for the young people are followed? Wouldn't and shouldn't the safety and well being of all residents be included? These are the questions I asked and she did not want to answer them. So I said, what is this, some kind of cop out? If I "contract" someone to watch my house and dogs while I am away, that is what I expect them to do and safety is a part of that. She got so mad and told me to listen carefully and maybe I would understand. "OH NO SHE DIDN"T JUST SAY THAT TO ME!" I thought. I had to rip her a new one and told her she picked the wrong person to talk down to and the worng lady's head to bite off and that as soon as I got some satisfaction that these residents would be safe from a bunch of hoodlums, I would be back to address her attitude and find out what I had to do to have her job pulled. Now, I doubt I could do that, but you better believe I will try after hearing stories, stories and more stories about her treatment of people. Then, yesterday, I called the loan company that holds my car loan to discuss a payment plan. I told them I could have the next payment in on June 1 and they got really nasty saying it is due on May 31. Now, I am not great in math, but isn't that just one days difference? Oh this lady was the cream of the B crop I tell you! She actually called me names and I did not like that at all. I told her I did not take kindly to rudeness and disrespect from public servants. Oh she didn't like that and said, I am no servant and, ok here comes the GASP factor...she insinuated that I was trash, got extremely nasty with me and I finally just hung up on her. Before I did, I was just yelling and that made me angry that I had allowed her to reduce me to that, so I had to hang up. So, today, my husband called and shall we say "explained" that nobody talks to his wife that way. So, now I figure they want the money May 31, they will get it at 11:59 PM, by check. They will still have to wait, but the rules say I have until midnight to post a check. They are not happy that I found a way around this so that the paycheck will be in the bank before their payment goes through. Anyways, I am just tired of so many better than thou attitudes and the lack of understanding when someone finds themselves out of work for awhile. I didn't ask to be forgiven the payment, I only asked for one more day. I was ready to post date the check. I have been late on payments is true, but I always pay and include the penalities. Maybe this is wrong, but what is one to do when the check doesn't come before the due date? I wonder how many people out there run into this on a daily basis. I also wonder what would happen if these people found themselves in my shoes or someone else's who has had a run of bad luck.
