The heavenly bath

It wasn't exactly raining cats and dogs but apparently the clouds are getting too heavy day by day. Puddles were everywhere, on the road, by the side of the road, on almost any visible surface out in the open. I was already trying my very best to
avoid them... An oncoming car speed by. I jumped. I turned sideways. I steered my umbrella from North to East.. Bingo! The driver must have been thrilled. I was not.
I ever drove over puddles intentionally once to help my driving instructor "wash" his car. I was being naughty then. Yes, the bigger the puddle, the higher the thrill. But there were no pedestrains or cars nearby.
If you are a pedestrain on the road, have you ever been caught in splashes from passing cars? If not, how do you avoid? What do you suggest are the ways to avoid the splashes?
If you are the driver, have you ever intentionally go over puddles? Or are you the considerate driver who will slow down to avoid giving the innocent pedestrain the uninvited heavenly bath? Was it thrilling?
What do you think?

Yes, I have experienced...as a pedestrain....while some cars splashed water and that include mud also. I think no body would like that his clothes and belongings should get dirty through this kind of splash. While driving...I try my best to avoid splashing others...but if there is much water logging...I cannot help it. I think our mentality changes when you are other side of the fence.

It used to be that whenever I would be getting in my car while it was raining, this one particular neighbor would be driving past and he would purposely swerve to hit the puddle and end up drenching me from head to toe. There was plenty of room to go around the puddle, so that's why I say he did it purposely. If I was lucky enough to see him coming, I would stay on the other side of my car until he went by. He finally stopped after I gave him a major telling off one day. I won't tell you what I said, because it wasn't nice at all. Personally, I believe in being courteous to pedestrians when it's raining, so I go out of my way not to splash them. (Thought about getting them a couple of times, but didn't let the urge get the better of me. LOL)

No, I would not do it. Surely I would not like it if somebody do this to me. The things I don't like to do to me by others, I also don't do it to others. And yes, I don't like to my car get through puddles and get a whole lot of it.
Rain can be fun, when you just get wet in rain in summer. When you play in rain in summer that can be really fun. But not the puddle part of rain can called fun in any way.

Yes I have and it was not fun at all. If I notice the puddles on the road, I will try not to stand too close. Still, some car drivers are so inconsiderate that they speed like they own the place.
We should have a rule such that if they splash water on me, they forfeit their cars to me.

Now I need to confiscate some garages to keep all the cars.

Hello, whyaskq,I had been caught in splash once long time ago. It was raining heavily that day and there were lots of puddles along the roads, I was at the bus stop having phone call, suddenly ,a bus arrived and my clothes was dampen by the water. It was quite embarassing as everyone was looking at me.
I think the only way to avoid the splash is to stay away from the road so that even some large trucks go over the puddles, the water will not splashed toward you so easily.
If i am driving,i will try to slow down as it is indeed safe to drive low in a rainy day.

Ah the total fun of rain is getting soaking wet by the time you reach home by the splashing of the cars around you! By the time you are home you should be caked well in mud and then be ready to take a bath.... where in the world are you going to get free mud bath? See the benefits of sludgy streets. If you ask me I love the rain and in my country where I was born rain usually means many centimetres of it at one go which would result in waterlogged streets which in turn would lead sometimes to cycles floating out of underground garages if they are not well chained. But here in US there is no mud and the rain is cold so I hate the rain. I have been caught in many such sludgy, wet, muddy splashes although I curse the driver but I have fun too, I like getting splashed only if I am wearing white any other colour I hate getting splashed (hard to wash of stains is the reason).
I have never spalshed anyone yet and hope not to in future either.Though I do have a friend who when we were younger liked to splash through he infact aimed his car into every puddle he could find and would always say this is what heavy rains are for to splash people.....youth makes us do a lot of funny things. Thanks for the discussion big head it was whole lot of muddy fun!

Stains in white are easier to manage I found out quite late in life when I was 20! You see you can scrub the stain a bit and just put it in bleach solution for a shiny white reveal. But colours like pink, blue and yellow are ruined absolutely if stained as bleach can not be used and well all the scrubbing lightens the spot leading well in short dumping the cloth to dishrag status!(this does not apply to dark colours) by and by I hate dark colours on a rainy day I feel light colours cheer me up on a desolate, dark, rainy day

Here in Spain some drivers have turned soaking poor pedestrians into a sport.
I only got splashed once, since then I have learned to stick closely to the walls of the buildings. This tends to get complicated when people on the same sidewalk are trying to do the same. We get our umbrellas tangled up because nobody wants to walk near the road, lol.

I don't drive a car, but the drivers here in Montreal can be very nasty. They will purposely drive in a puddle just to slash you and then laugh about it. Montreal drivers can be really horrible.

Filipino drivers are ruthless. I get splashed all the time by buses, cars and even motorbikes. My best advice is to bring wet ones always with you and avoid wearing light colored pants. I also bring toothpast and lemon or calamansi with me just in case of stains.

If I'm the one who is behind the wheel, I will slowed down a bit. There is really nothing to be thrilled about when driving with puddles on the street. I've been driving for so many years now and has witnessed countless of rude drivers who will actually speed up the car when passing through those puddles.
I have my fair share of those heavenly bath, alright. Those drivers should be more considerate of little bunny like me. Its a good thing I can easily jump over those puddles, LOL!

Do you mean to tell me they are doing it on purpose and getting a thrill from it? And here I thought it was totally accidental and that they weren't even aware they had done it!
I live in Ireland so this is a regular occurence.
I jussaw a car wrapped completely in Saran Wrap as a prank, all the way to the antenna. Must have been someone who fihgured out these dousings are deliberate and exacted revenge!
