We have 10 pets. They are as follows:
2 parakeets, Cloudee and Skigh
1 canary, Confetti
2 guinea pigs, Moose and Bear
1 mini-lop (bunny), Rocky
1 chinchilla, Jingles
1 cat, Critter
2 yorkies, Sassee and Belle
Our chincilla was obtained from a rescue center after someone tried to feed her to a snake. Poor baby was bald on both sides from where the snake had tried to swallow her.
I adopted the bunny after someone came to the owner wanting to buy him for snake food. I told her there was no way I was going to let him be snake food. She was a show breeder and this bunny's mom went blind so there was a chance he would go blind...which made him useless to her.
Our cat was a stray that adopted us. She is the sweetest cat and so mellow!

My birds have never been bothered by my cat. I guess my cat is just used to seeing so many different animals in this house that she has adjusted (we've had gerbils, hamsters and a mouse in the past).
I put a photo of Jingles here for you. Her hair is all back and she is so soft and gorgeous!

You are so blessed with your pets. And you are so wonderful for rescuing thems. Poor little Jingles, what a HORRIBLE experience. I love birds but with my penchant for bringing home stray cats, I've never dared have any in the house. But I do enjoy watching the ones in my backyard. So do my kitties. The birds provide all kinds of entertainment for them. Sort of like Kitty TV!

I think I have a cat, I say think as I seem to be have been adopted by a stray cat, I think he may have been owned by an ols man down the road who passed away a couple of years ago and I think he has fended for himself since, he stated coming around, I fed him, and he has been with me ever since...I think the poor little thing has probably been waiting for his owner to come home and he necer did....

lilaclady, I feel the same way - I think they are sent to us. And I think they are a great gift. Every cat I've ever had added so much to my life.

yes your right cats do add to your life, it is a shame some people only see them as pests....I myself can't see anything to dislike about cats.....I think we are the lucky ones we see the good in them...

I have 17 cats, 1 dog, and 2 parrots. I used to breed cats -- the ones I have are either retired breeders or kittens that had medical problems that I opted to keep rather than adopt them out and have them become someone else's problem. The dog was my daughter's, but she had to move and didn't have a big enough yard for her. She's a doberman and the sweetest dog in the world.

I was too responsible. That's why I quit. LOL. I was showing and breeding, but was sooooo picky about who my babies went to and I would never place one that had the least little thing wrong with it. Soon I had too many cats to care for to either breed or show. sigh. Soooo I spayed and neutered them all and now just have a bunch of really nice, show quality pets.

You know, that would be my problem too. I would have such a hard time giving my babies up. I rescue and tame alot of homeless cats and usually find good homes for them. But it still breaks my heart to have to give one up. I'm still missing the most recent little girl that I had to give up. Fortunately, I live in a really small house, so I really can't keep them all, just for their sakes.

O my gosh - and I thought I was the catlady! 17 cats! I'd love to be able to have that many - although I don't know when I'd find time to blog with that many cats. LOL! You sound like one of the responsible breeders and it's so good to hear from you. Mostly, we just hear about the irresponsible ones and all the sad stories that come from them. The picture is so cute!!! So glad you included it!

I have one cat named Rainbow that we adopted from a no kill shelter as a kitten. Are there four cats in the picture you posted?

Thank you, courtlynne77. Gus was a homeless kitty I found at the dump - he was starving and I took him home and fell in love with him. He had a very good life and gave me a lot of joy. That's so cute that your kids came up with the name Rainbow. It's so creative. And I bet she is a good little kitty. Shelter animals always seem to know that you've saved them and make such good additions to the family.

I think it's awesome these cats were lucky enough to be rescued. It's good to know there are still people in the world willing to save animals. I applaud you!!

Sometimes people talk about cats being stand-offish. I have never known one to be so. Some are more affectionate that others, though. I just love the ones that let you love on them all you want!

You're my kind of person, sirensanssmile. All those kitties are so lucky that they found you. I do the same thing. I've never actually had to go to the pound because I'm always overflowing with cats that I find on the street. I've raise a couple from the bottle. It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

Every cat I have ever had I found. I never bought a cat or got one from a pet store. I only take from the pound or off he streets. (When it is the pound though I send someone else because I would want to take every single animal home and can't afford that.)I also don't care how old they are. The vet guessed Kodde's age at already 6 when we took him in. The cat I had before I took from a ghetto. He was tiny and I had to bottle feed him until he regained health and grew enough to be able to eat. I will take more than one when I am sure I can afford all the doctor's bills for them.

I love the name Ringo. I was trying to remember the name of a song by that name - something like - "Ringo, Ringo, where you gonna go-e-o." LOL! Silly little song, but it stuck in my head.

I have 3 dogs - a chihuahuah, a pomeranian and a mixed german shepherd (the german shepherd was a stray that we took in many years ago - he'd been abused as well). I also have a cat. My pets are all spoiled rotten and I wouldn't part with any of them.

Really! I have heard that rats make very sweet pets. I love little mice but, for obvious reasons I can't really have any mice. Don't your cats try to kill your rats?

Actually, no-- my cats are terrified of the rats. LOL And oddly enough, most of the rats are not at all afraid of the cats, and I have had a few that were rather aggressive toward them. Also had a couple that would try to groom the cats, but the cats tend to find this most disconcerting and don't really hang around too long to sort it all out.
Male rats can get quite large and I think this might be one reason the cats are a little more wary of them. I've got females as well, and they are smaller, but I prefer the males because they are calmer(and squishier), so that is the bulk of the experience my cats have had with rats. :)

Oh, what a sweet puppie face! I just love that picture. You are the first person I've ever known that actually had a Saint Bernard. They are just beautiful and they look so sweet and lovable! I'd need a house about 3 times the size of mine to have one that big, though. :-D
