I think everyday in our life is a gamble. We do not know what is going to happen tomorrow, what is going to happen the very next moment........ this is the same when you "Gamble".
Imagine, when you were in school....... and you were thinking which career to choose...... was'nt that a gamble. You did not know if you would succeed in that filed of your choice.
When you felt like proposing a girl / boy........ you took a gamble again....... you did not know what the other person would say....... a yes or a no....... :(
When you take a new job....... you did not know if thats the right company / job profile.......... sometimes....... you have to choose which company to join......... that again is a gamble.
The partner that you got married to......... was'nt that a gamble..........
An investment that you thought of making....... however, good may the prospects be........ you still took a gamble.......... You purchase a house as an investment......... again you gambled....... you got an offer for your house that you want to sell........ and thought the offer was too less......... again you gambled........ :)
Everyday in our life....... we gamble on something or the other....... yes, it might not be with money. Coz, these days........ we co-relate gambling with "Money"....... but, in the actual sense...... every day we do gamble.....
I do not think there would be anyone in here who did not ever "Gamble"...... :P

it depends on degrees,
You can say everything is a gamble because we do not know the outcome of any action until we do it.
but there are people who always play it safe,
for example they will stay at a job they don't like because they fee safe that they won't lose their job but will not try for something better because it is too much of a gamble for them.
Some people will stay with a boyfriend or girlfriend who wants to marry them even if they do not love back because to leave that person to find someone who they love but they don't know will marry them is too much of a gamble for them.
Some people will cook the same food all the time because they know it will come out good, then try a new recipe that they may not like or can't cook right.

Hello, kukkad,I think life is full of gamble as there are so many uncertainties in our life,we have alot of decision to make, we need to choose somethin while we do not know the consequences, all we do is similar to gamble as a single wrong move may change the result of somthing, also we cannot predict what is going to happen next.
No matter whether it is a gamble or not in our life,we have to work hard and get over the hard times, that is my motto.

well maybe there are people that dont gamble but knows that life is like a gamble. you dont need to gamble just to prove life is a gamble.
you win some you lose some.... that is life
when troubles and problems gets in the way....you win some and you lose a lot, that is life
you were fired on your job... and you cant find anything new....you win none and you are the loser that is still life....
but doesnt end there still you can do something to have this twist of fate.
life is a struggle, life is fun. play it slowly and surely.
count your blessings, and share if you can.

I think things are only a "gamble" if you jump in with your eyes closed. All these things you mention should be approached with caution and one should do research or get to know the situation by trial and error. These topics you mention should all be weighed carefully before committing oneself so it's not a gamble. Some things are just too important not to be weighed up first.

Hey and you forget one gambling we do when we involve in any religion because nobody could prove you which religion is the perfect one. They'll at least try to convince you to join them.

I am one of those people who like the idea of a calculated risk. Always learn as much as you can about what you are going to do, hone that sixth sense, have a plan b contingency and then- hold your breath and dive in. You can still get a terrific kick in the a**- but you do reduce the likelihood of it always happening badly.
So much of formal education, and free advice is merely an attempt to get comse level of control over the extent of the gamble. Don't you think so too?

Forrest Gump's mama said it best: "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." It's one big gamble.

Good point, I guess using this perspective I can't say I don't gamble. Maybe I can get by with I don't gamble in casinos...lol.
You are right though all of life is a gamble. Getting out of bed can be a gamble, as well as driving to work. Thanks for the interesting perspective...:}

haha.. yes .. i agree with you.. life is indeed a gamble.. from the beginnign. .we're gambling.. we don't even know what will happen tomorrow.. that's why.. don't say you don't gamble.. because you don't know what might happen to you tomorrow.. and everyday.. every human is gambling with the god.. it depends when they lose to the god.. they have to go back to the god.. that's what i believe.. i always tell my friend such concept.. i think that's the only way to make them less sceptic about online investment.. well.. not sure if they really believe or not.. but it's true =)

The best thing about life is that you aren't certain about anything. The best thing to do is enjoy the simple things that make you happy. Careers are just jobs. Jobs come and go. You can give 10 years to a company that can fold. Trust me. The best thing to do is to try not to plan your life. Live it. Curve balls will be thrown your way. They will enrich your life in some way though. Go ahead and gamble. If you lose, at least you won't spend years thinking about chances you wish you took.

I don't know if I believe that life is a gamble, sure we never know what's going to happen from one moment to the next, but that's what makes life interesting isn't it? I DO believe that our lives are planned out for us by God, even before we are born. But, we were also born with a free will so we may deviate from that plan every now and then. I also believe that when we deviate from that plan, it brings heart ache into our lives BECAUSE we didn't make the right decisions or choices. I guess that's why it's so important to pray. So life being a gamble, I myself don't think so, a surprise maybe, but gamble no......
