Do you students go to your teacher and ask for help when needed?

Every time i get confused about homework, i usually never go to my teacher for hlep. This may be a bad thing, but i don't like to ask for help most of the time.. I may ask other students or friends every now and then, but they don't seem to help that much anyway. Every time i need help on figuring something out or figuring out what to do, i usually just go to google and search. I have found out that whatever the circumstance may be, i can find information on the suject on google, and the majority of the time i find exactly what im looking for. What do you other students do? Please share you thoughts

well no i am very shy in studies if i am having any kind of difficulty then i will never ask the teacher until someone else ask or i try to get help from my friends i even do not study the subject if i don't like the teacher attitude or his style or way of teaching.

It really depends on what the subject is. If i'm not sure how to get the best grade in Art for example i go to the teacher, ask them to look through my work and tell me what else i need to do. If it's English i'll search the net and if i can't find what i'm looking for i'll ask one of my friends. If they don't know i'll then go to the teacher. My English teacher is so busy that he is usually a last resort but if i'm in the class when i get stuck i don't hesitate to ask.

I usually refrain from coming to the professor. It's just me feeling too independent to ask for help. And even though the professors encourage students to ask away, we always feel stupid if we ask anyway. So instead we tend to stretch our resourcefulness and determination to figure out the lesson ourselves. It's not actually a disadvantageous thing. And I rather think the professors would rather we not ask anyway.

LOL, i agree with you. Im way to shy and independant. I like figuring it out on my own.. I am doing decent in school, so i might as well keep doing it.

Personally, I approach a teacher every time I need help. In our school, we only have 3 sections with 30 students each per batch. Our teachers allot a consultation time for students to make sure that students understand the lessons fully.
Some math teachers even give out large sheets of paper (like 1ft * 2ft) for the students to practice questions during consultation.
Anyway, in our school it's normal to ask help to a teacher.

I always ask the teacher for help. I don't want to sound like a suck-up or anything, but it's the only way I'll learn. Mostly in math. We have math tests, and if I don't understand how to do something, then I know I'll get it wrong on the test. So I figure I may as well learn how to do it so I get a good grade on the test. Grades are very important to me!

I am a student here, whenever i dont understand my homework i do go to my parents to ask for help about the certain topic and sometimes i do ask for help from my teacher because its their responsibility to help their students and let them understand the topic. And as a student also its my duty to learn for my future to be successful and well educated.

Most teachers in the secondary level hold extra help classes in all subjects so they make it very easy for kids to get extra help. I would imagine that in some cases children feel a bit intimated asking for help from the teacher during class time, so the extra help classes really make it very easy to get the support needed from teachers.

Well, back when I'm still schooling I also never come to my professor for help. Id rather ask some of my friends or classmates about the things that I do not quite understand. Or if there is something that I did not get right. Though they help me its not sufficient, so I go to the library and look for the topics that I got confused to check and figure it out my self. I also use the internet if I cant find it in books, I search on yahoo and somehow manage to get the informations that I need.

Now iam not a student when i was a student i used to go and ask teacher if i had any doubt in that subject. MY main reason is to impress the teacher. But some time i really got doubtes. i had no shy to ask the doubt before the teacher because i think its there duty to do that.

Our teachers usually say there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. So whatever you ask your teacher, if he/she gets upset about your question and doesn't answer that's her problem and shows her bad understanding of the subject. I also feel teachers should encourage students to ask more. I encourage you to ask for help, I know I would.

well for starters there ain't anything wrong with asking for help from your teacher, the only thing that i fill that can make one not to be confortable asking for help via a teacher is just complex. However the teacher I guess will be in a better position to help you since the teacher is the speaciality.

Hi there! Before, when I was a student, I would ask my friends and classmates about a lesson that I didn't understand. Back then, I was afraid to bother my teachers after class because I didn't know that actually, they appreciate that. If only I have known, I would've done that before. Sometimes, it is much better to ask them but thanks to my friends and classmates too, I learned lots from them.

In my college years, most of time i don't wanna bother my teacher even if i have some problems.I just try to read my textbook again and again,if i havn't found an anwer, I will leave it alone and do other things. Maybe two or three days, I will think over that unsolved problem again, this time I will find some clue to the it. I think in my unconsiousness, my head is still dealing with that difficult problems. It's a good way for my to deal with most of my them without anyother guys help.

I don't see not asking help from your teacher a bad thing. Actually I like your way of finding out things. You are practincing your patience and doing a hard work. That way you will not always rely on somebody else to help you. But if you are really having a hard time figuring out things, and the last resort would only be your teacher then you should not feel hesitant to ask for her help. Just continue what you are doing , it's the better thing. I know others who rely on friends, and are always like that will not remember wholeheartedly what they have studied. Just like me while I was still studying.
