I am having a writing agent send me a contract to sign. My is acting as my business mgr. I want you to pray real hard that this is what God has planed for me. And If you could buy a book by me, would you and would you tell your friends? And could I send them your e-mail address so you can be notified when it is coming on sale and if I will be in your city for a signing. Please e-mail me at ItsCarolee919@aol.com if I can add your name to the list
I have only been on here a short time and the agent read a lot of the feed back, and wanted to get me in print. Any advice, what should I look at before signing the contract?
Here is my bio
I am 63 I have had one story published in GRAND Magazine - The Official Magazine of Grandparents .I will be in a new book by About Dr. Lillian Carson author of the Essential Grandparent. It will be a non-paying story.
I started to write stories because I was in a auto accident in 1994 and my doctor told me to write everything down. One for my sons said you should send this to friends, and from there "My thoughts by Carolee " became a hit on the Internet starting 10 years ago. I have been trying to see if there is a market out there.
I am only sending this to folks that have left remarks for em. Thanks

I am jumping for joy! This is great news. You're writings in a book! Fantastic! These are the kind of books Oprah has on her book club, inspirational ones. Perhaps we will see her promoting your book on the show. Wouldn't that be phenomenal?
Is Thom acting as your business manager? You are so excited you missed the name of your acting business manager. LOL
I don't know what to tell you about the contract. Do you have any lawyer friends that can help you out with this? Maybe check out the agent to be sure he/she is reputable.
I would look for what percent the agent will receive on your earnings. I would look for how much promoting of your work the agent guarantees from him/her.
You will most likely have to sign another contract with the publishing company. I would definitely get a good lawyer.
When you do come to Chicago to guest star on Oprah and do a book signing, be sure to let me know. I want your autograph in my personal copy of your book!
Of course, I would tell my friends. They love inspirational stories.
Congratulations, Carolee.
God Bless

Of course, I wish you well. My experience, however, is that a writing agent for someone with no publishing track record is probably going to cost more than it is worth. If you are wanting to publish a book you may not need an agent. I have a friend who has published two books now and has not used an agent. My daughter is self-published and has paid for the publishing from the sale of her book. That surprised her, I guess, because she really thought it would not sell as well as it did.
So I'd be really careful about paying the agent in advance.
I probably wouldn't buy your bood because I seldom buy books at all, unless I get them from the $1 rack in the used book store. I use the public library. Our city has excellent libraries, and only purchase non-fiction that I will want to refer to time after time.

I have sent you an e-mail with all the information but I just wanted to say again how absolutely thrilled I am for you and how proud I am of you. You are truly an inspiration! Plus....I just totally love your writing and your stories.
I honestly believe that whatever happens to us, happens to us for a reason even though the reason may not be clear at the time. God obviously had his plans laid out for you to write. You had done so much with your life up to the accident but it took you in a totally different direction...and what a direction! Wow!
Carolee, your life has been and is so full and you have been and are so blessed...even during the hard times. Your faith has shown you so many paths and miracles and you have made so many friends along the way. I can actually see your life being made into a movie because you have never let the setbacks set you back.
You, my dear, are an amazing woman. God bless you.
