My daughters homeschool group found a stray pregnant cat under a bush. She is a small and pretty black Manx (no tail). She gave birth to 4 kittens but we lost one of them. So the final tally is two with no tail one with a tail. Two black, one a Tortoise Shell. We plan on finding mama cat a new home after we spay her and we plan on spaying the kittens too before we place them into new homes. Manx cats are really pretty, they love water and have a unique meow. They are intelligent and fun. So next time you see a tailless cat...it may not be a freak of nature but the breed, Manx.

That is just awesome that you took in a homeless cat and got her fixed along with her kittens. Did you end up keeping one of the kittens? Manxs' are a wonder just like Bengals are. Never seen a Manx in person but I'm betting if I do, I'll end up getting one. lol

That's just a lovely endorsement for a very deserving type of cat! I am SOOO pleased that you not only saved this mama and babies but you are making sure that they don't produce unwanted kittens in a world already overburdened with them. Bless you!!

I have a Manx cat that was also a rescue. He was found in the trunk of a car that was driven here to St. Louis from somewhere in Arkansas, where it was up for auction. The dealership that bought the car just happened to be next door to my husbands' and my favorite watering hole. When we were told about the kittens (there were two), I went right over there and saw two of the sweetest, tiniest, tailless kittens. They had to be no more than 4 weeks old. I took the male home with me and was amazed how easily our two other cats accepted him. They were a year and a half old at that time, brother and sister. Nova, our Manx, is now two years old, healthy, happy, strong, super fast, and quite a character. Manx cats are so different from "ordinary" cats. I never tire of their antics and am always so touched and blessed by the love they give. You did the right thing by that sweet cat and her kittens. I'm sure you'll do it again if the situation ever comes up again. I know I would.
