I love staying outside the garden and stare at the beautiful summer skies with all the stars smiling at me and inviting me to join them. Such a lovely site! I also love to just watch every blink of the stars, what a lovely creation. I just want to touch them and feel their light upon my palm. When I see stars I think of my father who already left us and is in the arms of his creator. I try to identify the different constellations that I see thee, the most that I can identify is the Big dipper and the small dipper , LOLZ thats the only constellation that I know ( please dont tell other people here on mylot). What about you can you identify other constellations?

I just love to look at the stars at night. The sad thing is that I live in the city and do not get to see them like they need to be seen but I'll take what I can get. When I was on vacation last week I sat out on the porch and gazed at the stars, was in the country no lights around. I was very nice and soothing. I have always liked looking at the stars for some reason ever since I can remember. I know what the big and little dipper and Orion's belt. I used to look at Jupiter and it's moons when I was stationed on the ship, very cool to see.

You can still enjoy it even with some stars in the city but not as good as in the province which you could enjoy lots of goos star views.

I do still enjoy what I am able to see at night. But the nothing beats seeing them without the glare of the city lights.

If you can get out into the countryside away from lights it is even better when you watch the stars. For some reason it is even better still out west in the countryside. If you can get in the desert or the mountains out west the stars are really really bright. Then take along a pair of 7X50 binoculars and you have the ultimate in star gazing. As to the constellations, bring a star book. The binoculars will even let you see several of the planets and even the moons of jupiter. Pretty darn neat. Check out: http://www.space.com

Inexpensive 7X50's are hard to find but I have a $25 pair of 10X50's that are easily obtainable at Wal-Marts everywhere. Great for bird watching, star gazing, spotting aircraft or whatever. Best $25 I ever spent.

I really like to watch stars in the sky, I really do. But the sad part is now a days it is not possible to do this as often as I like to. Because we live in appartment and there is no convinient place in where I can sit and watch the stars. I used to do it a lot in my past. When I think about that I get emotional. I feel something really good under a stary sky. Also I like to spend time out in the moon light.

No. Not at all. If I did, it would be when I was taking out the trash, and it's dangerous at night, especially with all the crazies of the world, and living in a bad neighborhood. Even if it didn't cost money and it's free, it wouldn't matter. Not at all anyway.

Thank you very much for your response. Yes of course I believe its a case to case basis there are places that are very dangerous at night times so I cant blame you if you do not enjoy such sites. Anyways, hope you have a nice day and enjoy. Take care!!!!

Hey, we've got the same sentiments here. Big and small dipper are only the constellations that I know of in my 26th years of existence here on earth. That's really quite funny of me, eh? But that's the truth. Yes, I loved watching the stars too, most especially when you're on the beach. It's really awesome.

I wish very much that I could sit outside and look at tthe stars at night; however, there is so much polution here around Houston that about all we can see at night is the moon and several planets. When I was a little boy this was not so. I could go outside at night and see the stars.

I too love star gazing, although I couldn't identify any of the constellations if I tried. Unfortunately, we don't get to see many stars where we live, and so sometimes, we head for the mountains. Up in the mountains at night, the air is clear and pine scented, there is pure silence, the moon shines down, and the stars are out in their thousands. We see Shooting Stars quite regularly in the Summer months, and they never fail to fill me with a sense of awe and wonder. Being at one with nature like that is when I truly feel alive.

one of my favourite pasttimes ...gazing stars on a summer night..usually during summer season the nights are bit cooler yet not so cool to be inside..i prefer lying down in the terrace watching the stars...its so magical to look at them..you are tranferred to some mysterious world and its completely soothing..looking at the vastness you are reminded of humbleness of your existence...for me its completely a wonderful experience..

STARS.. Dear Zalmarq,Your thoughts and feelings are abolutely right and romantic, too!!! I do like see the stars. When I watch them, I have strange feelings and thoughts. I see their magic picture, which sine in the "dark" of the night and I leave my problems and the everyday routine. I believe that every man that looks them, feel strange. And that moments, many wonders come out. When I look them, I understand how small we are in this world. We fight for stupid reasons and we care only for money, when theese beuaty is above you ready to be admired!!! Another thing that they remind me is the future. You watch them and you say "What is going to be in the future? What am I going to do? Will I be with a nice girl to see them? You see? How many things you have to say when you talk about them? All in all, it is a wonderful "picture" that nature had "imagination" when it created them. I hope keeping see them with more enthusiasm, LOVE and talk so wonderful and romantic things!!

I Love to watch the sky at night! I love to watch the sky at night especially when the moon is out and the stars are brightly shining. Isn't it a lovely view? When you are in a boat and cruising the sea at night, you will appreciate more the lovely sky and learn to identify the different constellations. Have you experienced the joy of watching the sky at night?

The stars are so few today. Except for the sun. Oh, I made a funny. What I meant to say was, there are so few stars these nights. Light pollution. When I was a child, the night sky would be drawn with the "midnight blue" crayon, but now it would require a greyish, reddish hue. That's what I see. A greyish, reddish hue. Rare is the night clear enough in which Orion's Belt hangs over my house. The only stars I see now are the city lights of the distant horizon that seems to reach up to swallow the valley whole. Only once in my life have I seen a shooting star. But now my neighbor shines two 50,000-watt bulbs (or so it seems) less than five feet from each other on the side of his garage, seemingly directly into my bedroom window. It seems like the opposite of what I would like, although the city lights do at least mimic the stars in some respect. But what I'd rather do is stand at the top of a tall hill, where the horizon seems to disappear as if civilization is nonexistent, and count the thousands of stars astronomers claim exist. New England nights are cold, however. Only once have I witnessed a shooting star.

I would love to, but I don't. There just isn't a place where I can just sit without interruption and do some star gazing. As it is here, any time of the day or night, just count to half a min and someone will appear within your sight. No privacy on this island at all.

I do not watch the stars. Instead I look at the clear blue sky or passing clouds. Often, I will be at the seaside and my sight naturally falls on the sea waves when there is a ship passing by. I like it especially when there is wind breezing past.

thanks for starting this wonderful discussion!...i love watching the stars...it makes me feel connected to the universe. it makes me feel stronger....that i have the power....and i can! there is an interesting fact about us and the stars that i'd like to share(hope it doesn't annoy you cause its not to the point lol!)...it is that when we even move our finger....we disturb the entire universe!!...now tha is somefin larger than life. i mean...with our slightest movement....all the stars ,planets and galaxies are affected....doesn't that make you feel powerful? all this occurs due to the phenomenon of gravitation between any two objects of the unierse!

About two years ago my wife took a course on astrology. Our, at that time, 4yr old and I got to go with her class to an observation. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. We got out there at dusk and as it got dark it looked like there were more stars in that one area then I'd ever seen in my life. The other people out there with their huge telescopes were so kind and helped us find different constellations, there was one named E.T. I couldn't find most of them again if I tried but we did get this neat wheel chart that helps find them.

well its not about fantsay its all about experiencing life and to enjoy what nature can offer and sometimes we are too focused with so many things taht we forget to enjoy what we see around us. So take a break give yourself a moment to enjoy the stars.
