Are there not enough actors who need work?

I am currently watching CSI Las Vegas. The guy who is running the "support group" or "club" is the same actor who was on an episode of CSI:Miami. This is two episodes in a row that they have used actors that were on the sister show.
I know there are tens of thousands of actors out there looking for work, and for these small roles, surely they could find someone new rather than use the same actor for different roles in what I consider to be the same show.
I can't help but wonder whether they think we are stupid enough not to recognize these repeat actors in different roles. Hey, I'll even step up to the plate and play a part on one of their shows. I know I could do it.

It's all about favors and connections. Till you get famous, these are basically the factors that get you the job. Like you rightly pointed out, there are so many aspiring actors wanting the job, but why should they get it when there is a likable FRIEND who wants it as well? :P
