Describe the pain to me please...

A friend of mine gave birth to her and his husband's first baby.... THe delivery was fine but the baby is sick..... The baby is not premature though but her heartbeat stops every now and then.... I can feel and see the pain of the baby's relatives especially her Mom (my friend). Do you know of somebody who is in great pain? How can you describe the pain?
