Don't feel guilty for wanting to sit around and do nothing. This urge is natural, according to biologists. Zoologist Joan Herbers,Ph.D., says that animal inertia which is present in nearly every species on earth is essential for conserving calories, digesting food, protecting territory, and regulating body temperature. Only humans often forget this inclination to indolence. The average French worker puts in 1,646 hours of labor a year: an American, 1,957 hours: and a Japanese, 2,088. Perhaps, we could take a cue from the animals sometimes. For example: a gorilla spends 51 percent of its time resting and 42 percent, working: a blackbird, 60 percent resting, 40 percent working: a spider monkey, 63-37: a walrus, 67-33: a shrew, 68-32: a hummingbird, 82-18: a male lizard, 86-14: a lion, 75-6: and a female lizard, 97-3.
