Do you think we can have too many interests listed on our profile? When I go to start a new discussion, it takes me a while to find the right place to start it from. I understand that it makes it easier to find discussions that interest us, and that we are more likely to respond to, but it took me a while to find the book type (Robert G Barrett) that I wanted to start a discussion on, as I was the only person listed under that interest. Am I being too fussy by starting it under that specific title, or should I have just started it under books, so that all people listed in the books interest would see it, and maybe comment on it?

Yes, it is possible to have too many interests listed I think Bel. Then it becomes confusing as to what interest a certain discussion should go under, and to compound the problem, there does not seem to be any sort of order that interests are listed down. If myLot could come up with some sort of order, i.e. even an alphabetical one it would be better. In fact, thinking about it, an alphabetical list of interests would be the best, then a person can make their choices easier. As it is now, they are all over the place and I cannot fathom how they are chosen. I do not think they are even in the order that I said "yes add to my interests". Personally you have to do what suits you I think, rather than worrying about anyone else. For example, your friends will respond to your discussions and it will also appear down the bottom of the screen if someone else uses the same tags as you have used. That means others who are not on your friends list will also see the discussion, and can choose to respond if they want to.

Personally, I think the interests are way too varied. People will add an interest that's already listed but use different words thereby creating a new heading. Imagine if everyone listed their favourite book or even author and then their favourite songs, or their favourite sports team etc. The possibilities are endless. I think admin should have created the interest headings, like music; classical, pop, etc and books; fiction, travel etc. The whole thing needs to be condensed. If someone feels their interest isn't represented, there could be a way of running it by admin first

Yes I think it is possible to list too many interests BM... I mean for me it is hard enough to respond to a couple of interests with the time I have available now!! But if someone is on the net all day... they are bound to have heaps more... so I suppose my answer would have to be "it would depend on the time one has to get involved in the interests as to how many would be too many!" Have a great week-end BM..

I agree, it's difficult to find the interest you want to post under - there doesn't seem to be any logic to the way they're listed. Perhaps if Mylot could list them alphabetically we'd have a better chance of finding the headings more quickly :) I'm a bit like you and prefer to post under correct listings - though I have been known to just post it under general after giving up looking for the right interest :)

I think if people want to add alot of interests it cant hurt.I've actually got to expand mine abit because there are so many subjects I like -it's not funny!I like books as well,I collect Enid Blyton books whenever an old one comes along-maybe I should add that to my interests.

Well I do not think that this is really the problem with having so many interests it is just that when you go to do our discussions there are just too many there with the same topic and I do not know how to get rid of some of those. In regards to books oh that one is easy as I just put my discussion about reading books I only have one of those. Maybe this is the reason as you say about that you put it under specfic title.

Hello Belmcstar Just put a lot of interest to you so you have so many choices. And response the similar discussion so you can find the right interest or similar with your interest. And maybe you can start a new interest that other people never think about that. Good luck
