What is it that make people join the forces???

Army.....navy.....air force......every country has it. But I want to know that what is it that makes or encourage people to join it. Is it only patriotism or the want of respect in the society?? Life is precious but have seen army men losing their precious life for their countries. They say "If you wan to lead a man's life then join the army!!" Is it true enough?? Please share your ideas on it. Thanks

Mostly it is due to patriotism. And sometime I feel that in these installations, some privileges must be given to the soldiers so that they are satisfied while they do their duty for their countries.

I dont think that money really matters in such kind of jobs. Its the desire of respect in the society. You know when people hear about it that you are a soldier, you can tell it from their eyes that how much respect do they for such people. And then there are some patriotic people around who risk their life on the borders just to make sure that we all live in peace and harmony. I salute all the brave people and the brave souls who lost their lives in the battles for their motherland.
