i really am very disappointed coz i read many discussions about the philippines..bad topics about the philippines..i mean, everyone knows the country is in a bad shape now.. so why worsen? i noticed that only filipinos talk bad about their country. while people from other countries never talk about their country, at the least. why do filipinos love to share these bad news? it really does nothing good to the country.. and i know no ordinary individual can change it too. but at least, they should have kept it to themselves and help restore the dignity of the country no matter how bad is its shape. and perhaps you are grudging on how the politicians handle the country.i do understand it but why not address it to the "government" and not to "the philippines"? after all, the philippines is not solely composed by them. there are also a lot of people who are trying to make things work out to the good of our country..if you have comments about this post, feel free to post it.. i will be very glad to hear any reactions from fellow filipinos.. and also people from all over the world..

Sometimes government carries with them the dignity of a country because we believe that they are chosen from among the people to be leaders and they should represent the people and the country when they are tarnished the country is affected. But I agree that we must not talk only of the bad things happening in our country the beloved Philippines but also the good ones. But by addressing both we paint the real picture of what our country looks like I don't believe in covering the bad side like what our government does when a VIP from other country visits they cover the slum areas with adboards and painted them to look nice no I don't like that. I think we must be proud of who and what we are even in things that are not good because it will teach us how to make our country better. The bad side is not bad at all it has lessons to learn from.

I noticed that too in here lots of Filipino are generally negative about the condition of our country. its nice to see this post because I seldom see this kind of post in here. Sometimes though I can only sense the disappointment about it and I am guilty of replying to them. But you are right we cannot do anything about it in here only we can express it here but that does not change the situation. I do have seen some positive posts in here but for some reasons I am not compelled to reply I do not no why maybe i am just pessimistic about everything about my country or what.

I have some good friends in myLot from Philippines. They are all good individuals, very caring and intimate, which has left a positive impact in my mind about Philippines.
Regarding bad remarks or topics, probably, it is a gross human nature to criticize his/her own country. No exception in India! But I quite agree with you, people must be more responsible while making comments about their own country.

Everyone of us hates the kind of government we have. Filipinos who are writing their grievances in this kind of forum wanted to share their feelings to others. It is not the philippines that is worst but it is the people who are making it worst. And who are those people, those who are seating in their offices just for a salary. Why do people go out of the country? It is because they don't like that their minds will be polluted because of the kind og government we have. This is a way of addressing the people of the philippines that we should make something different. Do you think the government will hear you if you will air your grievances to them? The demonstrators can't even do anything to remove those people who are making bad name for the country. Every person has a unique reason to show their emotions and they are entitled to it. Remember that it has been a saying in our country "The pen is mightier than the sword" so why stop them?

Should be kept within the country? How can you say that a county is democratic if youlet issues kept within a country? This is a social issue which could be discuss anywhere in the world. Go to a communist country if you want that your issues in a country wont be brought up. "everyone is different and you can manage each person's mind.

i don't mean to stop their freedom.. what i mean to say is that why say bad things about the country? it's not the country who has done wrong but SOME of the individuals. in talking about the country, it's kind of generalized. after all, they (the government) are not the only ones living here.. and besides, there is no use of telling other people from other countries how bad our country is. saying these problems to the politicians may not do anything good but at least problems within this country should be kept within this country..

I felt the same way as you do. In fact, the Philippines got more postive things to talk about than the negative ones -- the nega ones just get highlighted by all of us so that it become a norm to be complaining of this and that and making those complains for the whole world.
Anyway, this also makes us really Pinoy! Very unique. We love to wash our dirty linnens under the view of the global community. Annyway, we could not blame them as these complains also got basis. The only thing that we can do is to accuentiate the beauty of the Philippines for the whole world to see.

I notice that we have many mylotters from the Philippines. Your country men are politically minded. I've been to Manila once and you can see demonstrations on the street almost everyday. Its not a bad country afterall. Its the people who paint a picture about their country.

i hate those politicians and people in the media who paint a bad image of the philippines and the filipinos. the philippines is actually doing good and, these people have done everything to discredit us rather than be happy about our achievements.
allan peter cayetano did so much as to destroy the image of others just so he can become popular, he knows that what he was telling about fg mike arroyo is all fabrications, he fabricated the lies, so he will gain the support of the non thinking filipinos. i hate the likes of him.

Each of us has our freedom to speak, or write what we don't like with our country. Of course, we have some situations that are not likeable so it is normal that some people will give comment on such issue. But I also read good posts about the Philippines. It just happen that we Filipino became too critic nowadays. Even a simple error in our country we give comment. Atleast we don't leave that issue there. We share our thoughts and hopefully we make moves to help solve our problems.

haha. don't worry.. you're not alone.. i dislike my country too.. i think my country is not so advance compared to other country.. which they should have since we already proclaim independence 50+ years ago.. i don't know why the administration in my country suck too.. they keep changing the system.. let's talk about the education system.. it's like.. at first.. we're teaching in english... and then.. we change it to our national language..and now.. the government is changing it back to english again.. why keep changing it? it shows that they have no confidence to rule the country at all.. gosh.. so.. don't worry about your country =) .. every country is the same..

I would rather face the reality of the country and bring them out for other people's awareness, rather than do the filipino thing and smile on the troubles, hide the facts, and let things be. To look at the grim reality is not about feeling negative, it's about being realistic. We don't get much by being idealist, look at what's currently happening. Being a realist and knowing where we stand and what needs to be done is I think a better path than living in ignorance. However, being realist takes also a measure of responsibility. You just can't talk and do nothing for the country. I help my community and i'm politically-involved through my University, and I hope to do my first national responsibility this coming election. See here, we're not just ranting. We're also moving.
I hate people who say the Philippines is such a nice country yet not know much about the real situation of the country. We are a country in trouble, and I do not mean just politically. Economically and environmentally too. Health and sanitation, criminality, terrorism, justice... these are real issues. Let us not be so shallow and talk about beaches and resorts or any other tourist attractions.
And you don't know much. Other countries loves to complain about their politicians too, not just us Filipinos. I have a chatmate once who told me this wise piece of thought: Every citizen of each country seem to hate those who run the country. So we are not alone on this. The case with the filipinos is that we don't have a lot of mediums to express our discontent. That's why even MyLot is affected.
Cheers!

I do understand what your sentiments are. But I as see as a filipino myself, I know what my country looks like but I won't just grudge and make someone (foreign people) shiver that it made them not to visit the Philippines.
You know what filipinos made of? Look at them, they try to backbites one another and no matter what happened they want somebody fall. They don't even think how to save the country, they have their own intentions and want to excel than others.

let's face it....we are not really doing that well....there is a LOT of room for improvement in our country...if we filipinos will think of negative things about our country, will our situation be any better?of course not
