I was in my early high school when a neighbor older a year older than me killed another neighbor who was then five years younger than i do. It was a very dreadful event in the neighborhood. According to the talks, the suspect killed the victim to get the kneecap which was said to bring luck in gamblings. To give a little background, the suspect is surrounded with gamblers as he comes from a family who are often seen in the cockpits, majongs, card gambling sessions and other forms of gambling. Many years have passed; i have not seen the suspect which was said to have been freed from imprisonment as he was still a minor when he committed the crime. I have not seen his siblings also as his immediate family have transferred to another place after that dreadful event, maybe out of shame. His relatives are still known to be gamblers and two of his young cousins have died in an unexpected death. One died in a motorcycle accident two blocks away from our place. That cousin of his was drunk and was in the cockpit area before the accident happened. The other one was shot by unknown suspects early december last year. A thought just suddenly came, how are they (the family of the suspect) dealing all this dreadful events in their lives? i don't know what their feelings then knowing that a family member have killed another person.. It's taken taht people will never ever forget all those stuffs.. i for one can still clearly remember those events. It was really scary.. for about three months i did not eat meat when after learning the death of the victim, i can always assosiate meat as the kneecap of the victim . The victim was too young to die then. It was so inhumane.. and the dead body was seen after three days.. i can clearly remember how people talked about the smel and how badly the boy looked like with all the insects eating his lifeless body.
